it tells u before accepting your name that it cant be changed later

did u fail to read it or just click yes to continue

I've never wanted to change my psn, but I'm one of those maverick people that think that us, the buyers, should have all the choices and options we want. It is my system, it's my sign on, it's my profile, I want control. Call it people power, crazy notion I know.

I made my psn account the day i bought my first ps3, five years ago. I remember having my brand new Resistance fall of man copy by my side as i was creating my account. I was 19 by then and i was really anxious to try that game online.

It's obvious that being now older and less "impulsive" i wouldn't have chosen the nick i chose and, in fact, i'd like to change the one i got then. But i can't because... no reason. Would it be too hard to let users change their names without losing their friends, trophies and savedata? I don't want to have a new name every week but in 5 years nicks get old.

I'm just saying that nicks get old naturally so it's absurd trying to make them last forever. You can change name on XBL and even on the japanese PSN, and well... on every other kind of account i can think of. It just makes no sense to not being able to change it. Why having the option to change your real life name and not the ID?

 YOU CANT change the Japanese NAME. Its fixed. Stop spreading bull crap. They can only change the ENGLISH display name for Titles that use the English text only.

Go on HOME for example and the JPN name shows again. so the name is not changed... 

VERY few titles. Use the Display name as they program the games correctly now.

If you had Japanese Friends you Would KNOW that it does not change.

I also would like to change my ID and simliar to limp1987, for me it all comes down to control. It makes much more sense to allow and monitor name changes, which is essentially relatively simple by conrolling how many changes to a specific account within a certain alotted timeframe. Combine that with IP scans, address and financial info comparisons as well as any other easy ish Sony already has access to given the info you must provide in order to just create an account..  Regardless, I will never understand why random people just barge into forums and claim "tough it clearly states when registering that the account name cant be changed at a later date next time read it before hitting continue" literally directly after someone explains they realize the rules BUT and essentially I wish statements with a logical articulated thought process.  Way to NOT be a contributing member of a community.
