Haha, 3D going maintream. I think that the only reason that TV manufacturers are touting 3D as the next big thing, is that the majority of consumers are happy with their HDTV that will last them another 5-6 years at least. And manufacturers need people to constantly buy their TVs. And so they need another feature to push sales of new TVs. 3D will be a gimmick, at best an option, not 'essential' as HD will be.
They should at least wait until HD Television is the norm before shoving gimmicks down our throats.
