"You cannot sign in using another users sign-in id (e-mail address)" ???

Having owned my PS3 now for about 2 years, just recently. when trying to sign in on PSN I've received the above message. Can anyone enlighten me as to why I can't sign in using my own e-mail address on my own PS3? And how else can I sign in?

Thanks in advance.

Re: "You cannot sign in using another users sign-in id (e-mail address)" ???

This has happened to me once on my PS3. I have a user for my partner and a user for me. When setting them up, I used my PSN account under her username by mistake.

So, when trying to sign into mine...I too got the message you received. I was baffled until I realised what I had done.

I would suggest checking your other users on your PS3 and see what email address they log-in as. Other than that, not sure mate.

It's only my kids that use it and they don't have accounts. Unless the wife has signed me in on her settings. I'll check.

Thanks.

That is the only thing I can think of mate. One of the users on your PS3 is using your PSN details. Was the same for me. Signed into my account using my partners local username and forgot.

Nope, that's not done it. I've even checked our other PS3 upstairs and I'm not signed in anywhere.

Knight,
Make sure your local account (the one under 'Users' on the XMB) is the one you used to create your PSN account.
What you have probably done is logged on to your local account, then used a different email address to attempt to sign in than the one which was registered to that local account.

All I can think of then, is to sign into another local username (your wife) and delete your usename. Then, create a local user using the same name you had. Then go to the PSN Network and choose "Sign in using existing existing account".

This should work mate.

EDIT: Or what MB said while I was posting this! :smileyhappy:

If I delete my username, will I not lose all my game progress and settings?

@Knight

Ah yeah, forgot about that. You could back them up, but you'll not be able to backup your protected save games.

Re: "You cannot sign in using another users sign-in id (e-mail address)" ???

Well, I backed up my game progress, deleted my user name from the system and re-entered a new one for myself and I can now sign in!

Unfortunately, it doesn't give the option to save trophy information, so I've lost all that.

Not to worry. Thanks for your help, Doodylicious and MB. Much appreciated.
