Hi Brakedustt,
Are you creating the Sub Account on the PC or PS3? And at what stage is the message 'please try again next time' appearing?
Cheers,
SuperFastZombie

Hi SuperFastzombie
Thanks for the reply
Here are sequence of events setup for PS3 console
History
brakedustt is the parent account holder with one already activated sub account (miacatt)
Created another sub account (sweett_pea5) - already setup on ps3 console and sony entertainment network
Events
Email received to parent account requesting activation of new sub account - once logged into new sub account under device tab i get the following
'You need to update your account before you can access PlayStation®Network.
Update Account '
I select and then links me to parental login (parental approval required) where I proceed to login
After login i get the following statement within the new sub account (sweett_pea5) under 'devices'
'We are unable to update your account at the moment. Please try again later.'
with the following statement beneath
'You need to update your account before you can access PlayStation®Network.
Update Account '
Already tried 'How to Activate a PlayStation®3 System' instruction but cant get past logging onto the playstation®Network
It indicates
'you cannot use playstation®Network with this account. For details, visit the following website on your PC
http://register.qriocity.com
which brings me back to sony entertainment network where we start the loop again
Apologies for the long statement - Just trying to get enough info to present to you
Thank you in advance
regards

Hello brakedustt and fellow forum members,
I have now created 3 undeletable sub accounts while trying to get past this very same issue on my son's (he's 12) new PS3.
I get the same exact error message:
"You cannot use PlayStation Network with this account.
For details, visit the following website on your PC:
http://register.qriocity.com/"
Going there redirects to https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/cam/a
Logging in with my master account, I can see all 3 sub accounts, but the interesting thing is, there are no Online IDs associated with any of them. My son has told me what he wants his Online ID to be, so I log in under his sub account and edit that information, but at the bottom of the form it prompts for a master account login to confirm. No matter what I put in the fields (credentials from my master account or those from any sub account), I get an error that either the email address or password is invalid.
I have tried my Android phone, my laptop running Firefox, and even Internet Explorer in case something was getting blocked, but no dice.
Something else worth noting is that each time I created a PSN login through the console on a sub account, the system sent me an email with a confirmation link and a code. Clicking on the code brought me to https://store.playstation.com/accounts/register/pa
There is no place for the validation code I was sent. I'm confused, and because I couldn't update any account information, I am led to believe that something is broken with this entire process on the Sony web site.

Has anybody managed to get round this issue?
I have exactly the same problem.
Tried setting it up sub accounts with the PS3 which sends me an email to insert an x-digit code. The link in the email is wrong as there is nowhere to insert the code!!
I've also tried to create sub accounts online which is fine until I try to link the account to the psn.
To access the psn it says 'You need to update your account before you can access PlayStation®Network.'
When this is attempted after inputting the master account login details I get: 'We are unable to update your account at the moment. Please try again later.'
I'VE 'TRIED AGAIN LATER' ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS!
Come on Sony sort it out
Has anybody managed to get round this issue?
Many Thanks

I am having the exact same issue. I bought 3 additional new PS3s a few weeks back and setup Sub Accounts for my kids PS3s. I can access them fine on the PC. Even though the Profile is brand new, when I try to login using the sub account I am told that I cannot use the PSN with the Sub Account and then referred to the Qriocity site for an explanation. Not only did they just reduce the number of activated systems from 5 to 2 even for legitimate customers (which I did not find out about until well after my purchase), now my kids can't even play together online due to this glitch.
I have spent thousands of dollars on consoles and games and their systems don't even work properly. Sony really needs to get this resolved ASAP. This is ridiculous.

Had the same problem as DanoNH & d-millionz.
New PS3 (and we're new to all this), set up Master Account, set up two sub-accounts for my 10 & 12-yr-old boys on a PC, but when logging in on the PS3, got the:
"You cannot use PlayStation Network with this account.
For details, visit the following website on your PC:
http://register.qriocity.com/"
Don't recall the order of everything, but also got the email with a confirmation link and a code, with no place to enter the code destination page of the link.
VERY frustrating and disappointed Sony has such poor quality control in this process.
Found the solution at:
http://hyperthinking.us/weblog/2011/09/13/psn-sub-
You have to sign-in on a PC into the sub-accounts, NOT the master account, and complete the registration there; entering child's name, address, and PSN Online ID/whatever they call the public profile name (versus the separate username on your PS3). Then go back to the PS3 and sign-in to their username and go over to sign-in to PSN.
I agree with this blog link, that it is quite a stupid process, and not explained anywhere by Sony.
Now, how about this AMAZINGLY STUPID issue of being unable to sign-in to more than one account (e.g., 2, 3, or 4 accounts) at one time to play (and track your progress) multiplayer games, such as Call of Duty. From many searches online, it appears that the PS3 does not allow this. So, siblings, parents/children, or friends cannot play in the same room/single console for their account at the same time, but rather have to play as a guest of one account. This would mean people have to decide, or fight over, who gets to build their acount progress and who has to play along anonymously. Seems like this would affect the majority (if not 90%+) of customers out there, so how can a concept this bad make it to market? What a lousy way to try to bring people together to play games, or let parents stay involved with their kids. I guess Sony just designs for the recluse who only interacts with people online. Heaven forbid if they want to sit on the couch next to you.
I hope I just haven't found the answer yet, because if this is the case, we are definitely regretting our decision to get a PS3 instead of an Xbox. And it seems the Xbox should be marketing the heck out of this fatal flaw, because I wish we would have been talked out of the PS3. Even if multiple account sign-in is not allowed for playing with others on PSN (pretty stupid), what seems like should almost be a legal requirement is to allow/facilitate multiple account sign-in on one machine. Not allowing that is INSANELY STUPID, and it's hard to believe the game producers would allow such restrictions.
Help!!!

That's weird. My kids are both signed in on one PS3 using their own profiles playing LittleBigPlanet?
