Having a problem here with BF3 premium not showing up in my game. I bought the thing last week in the EU PSN store for €49,99. I can download it and activate it fine, but whenever I start up the game I am prompted again to buy the thing. I think this may be due to the fact that I have a EU account but bought the game in the US. However, there being no warning about region restrictions anywhere I think this is EA's problem to fix. My search for help started with their online chat service.
After they let me do the exact same thing 3 times I asked to speak to someone higher up, who this morning after a week (!) told me it's psn's problem and I should bugger off asap. I think I could fix it if I could receive an activation code that'll work with my US BF3 copy, or they give me a EU store refund so I can go ahead and buy a US Premium. Customer support has not been stellar in this whole ordeal. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask them to not steal my 50 euros. I can't find a contact for EU PSN support so I hope someone here can point me in the right direction.

DLC being region locked is no big secret. It's a widely known fact. US game requires US DLC, EU game requires EU DLC, etc. That's how things have worked since 2006/7. So, the mistake is yours. There will be no patch to fix it, or refund of your money. A simple search on Google or even these very forums would tell you this. Where have you been for the past 5-6 years? Under a rock?

OrdosAlpha, I can't believe you think this is acceptable let alone defend it. Is there a region code marking on the box? In the psn store? Could you give me one good reason why games aren't region coded but DLC is? The mistake is mine when I didn't research buying something ON THE INTERNET or a forum somewhere? Is that what a car manufacturer would say if they had some employee post "oh yea btw this car won't drive in the US" on a forum somewhere and you then bought it? So unless you spend your days on support forums or browsing a forum you're SOL. No casuals pls k thx. Awesome, psn, EA.

LOL@ solved status
Pay it twice. Awesome advice guys, thanks. Great. You have to telephatically sense that dlc is region coded when games aren't. 49,99 euros, literally FOR NOTHING. They can check I can't play or DL this, and the content is exactly the same for the US version, but refunds, nooooo. I guess I'll take this to the better business bureau.

That's where we differ. They are the same products. BF3 is not marked as a EU version or a US version. They will play on EU and US systems without problem. You can play mixed version multiplayer without a hitch (which has to be the ultimate proof they're functionally the same). The problem could just be solved by the game downloading the correct content after you buy the premium pass. But BF3 nor the DLC mention anywhere in the description or on the packaging (the center of the BD disc and probably some product ID codes) that they are region locked. It's sad I won't be able to play this, since I think shelling $100 bucks for a game I already paid $65 is well OTT and past anything that can be described as a reasonable deal. They're probably having a royal 50 euro laugh at my expense at EA. And I'm not complaining to Lidl, I'm complaining in the (unfortunately) only "support" source for the PSN EU store has available.
