I put my PS3 to make the system update 4.20, my older version is 4.11, but in the middle of download the console give me the error 8002F997. I tryied to update my console via PSN and via USB. But nothing fix my problem. Many people has finished the update but is no loggin in, in my console I just want to update my console.

The firmware file is corrupted. This would indicate that you're internet connection is crap, especially when the file downloaded and transfered onto USB was corrupt as well.

Okay, you saying that I have to download th update in another connection?

Um i'm getting the same error code and my connection isnt "crap" I have high speed internet

And I just tried to update again and it worked. mayb there's something wrong with the update itself out something. I'm no expert but i'm just saying.

It happened to me as well!! I'm so frustrated. I downloaded via USB as well and it said the data is corrupted. What am I supposed to do now??

The same thing is happening to me. i have tried the update via PS3, and through USB memory stick, and the same message - file corrupted. I have high speed internet conection, and no problems in the past with updates, only with 4.20. Have put PS3 into safe mode, restored files, the works, but still the same error! Can somone from Sony please sort this out, please!

Just because you've got a high speed connection, doesn't mean you won't have high latency or ping. High latency and ping results in your connection being crap. Simple as. If you're having to try several times, then issue is defintely on your end.
