Since the update I have been unable to connect to PSN.

Keep getting The connection with PSN timed out error messages.

Yet I can browse the internet on the same PS3 and also could download Qriocity software and its 1.01 update.

This is frustrating as all was well prior to this update.

Did you try turning your modem off and on again?

System>system settings>restore default settings..........then re-configure ALL settings

This will not NOT delete any data btw

The issue was the firewall was turned back on my router.

I did have this off but for some reason the setting was not permanently saved.

The router was recently rebooted to resolve a separate issue and coincidently was just before I updated the ps3.

So now I know that its a firewall issue much like P2P.

Is there some kind of port forwarding I need to configure for PSN if I have my firewall turned back on?

You can definatley try port forwarding. The PSN ports are as follows:

TCP: 80, 443, 5223
UDP: 3478, 3479, 3658

What brand/model is your modem&/router?

What are the results (all the results) of an Internet Connection Test?

Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Test

Thanks braydonh87. Those ports are also mentioned here.

I have forwarded these ports and now PSN works with with Firewall on.
