Every hour or so, I get disconnected from PSN whether it be playing online, watching video, playing audio or generally just being idle on the XMB. This has been happening for the past month, or a little more than. Very annoying considering it's never happened to this extent before (once a day, maybe before this). It doesn't seem to be related to my connection as the connection itself doesn't go offline during this time, doesn't happen on my other consoles or other online PC games.

Connection is wired. Directly from the modem via ethernet cable. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

trying using a different ethernet cable the wiring in it may be worn down (bit like headphones)

Sounds lieka problem at broadbands end.

I'm not convinced it is, Sonnyjimba. The broadband connection is still active while this happens. I never get this on my 360 or on my online PC games, I could stay on them all day and not get disconnected or signed out of anything. It only seems to happen while signed into the PSN. It signs me out, get the error message, and then almost immediately signs me back in again. Not bad when on the XMB, doesn't bother me, but when playing online of course it's a pain.

I'll try what Silverwolf60 suggested tomorrow sometime and see how it goes, but then again it goes back to the disconnect issue not happening on my 360, as I use the same cable for PS3 and 360.

oh well in that case try setting up your PS3 internet connection settings manually

Well, I didn't enter my network details in manually, but your post gave me an idea so I reset all the settings to default in the maintenance menu (holding power until the 2 beeps), and it seems to have sorted it out, I hope. Not got a PSN disconnect for the past 2 days. Looking good. Thanks for the input.

I restore the default settings just like You say, but unfortunetly i have still the same problem

Try to turn off Media Server Connection
