Re: Your Guide To NOT Put Your PS 3/2/P Into a DMZ

Putting any device in DMZ can be a bad thing ! No wan security at all(demilitarized zone, lucky 4 you the PS 2/3/P, is not a windows machine.) Really it's not advisable, this because you bypass any router network security that blocks unwanted activity from the wan(internet). So the first posting of this topic, especially the line: Putting your PS3 into a DMZ is not a bad thing is NOT true, it's easier, but also damn unsafe. Check this topic.

Re: Your Guide To Putting Your PS3 Into a DMZ

I used this to see if i could now connect to Armored core 4 but yet still the same message appears " Regulator download failed". Do you know if this is a problem with their servers or is this my ps3 connection?

Re: Your Guide To Putting Your PS3 Into a DMZ

The DMZ wizzkids here shure know. (they think). :smileytongue: Or try on your computer(or PS3 with Yellow Dog Linux) to run a ping command to the host, to see if it replies. For real secure setup -> Check this topic. (router DMZ = for lazy unsecure network noobz). :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Your Guide To Putting Your PS3 Into a DMZ

Unfortunately my router (Netopia 2247NWG) doesn't have the option to set up a DMZ. I followed the instructions here - http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netopia/2247NWG-VGx/PlayStation_Network.htm - after setting up a static IP on both my PC and PS3.
But still the same problem; it says I'm on NAT Type 3, and UPnP isn't available (even though I have it enabled on the router). I can do most things on my PS3 - Sign into PSN, use the web browser, download stuff from the PS store, play most games online, but I recently got Tekken and I still haven't been able to get a match yet! Judging from what most people said NAT seems to be the problem. Hopefully someone here will have an idea what to do? :smileyhappy:

Re: Your Guide To Putting Your PS3 Into a DMZ

Cheers for the info bigdav1, I?ve been looking everywhere for straight forward advice on how to do this. I?ve also been experiencing psn connection problems etc after last ps3 update. I?ve now got a nat type 2 yipee, I?ll see if it sorts it. thanks. :smileyvery-happy:  :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Your Guide To Putting Your PS3 Into a DMZ

I`ve been having problems with PSN staying logged in for ages and have found out the issue, at least with myself is using Utorrent.

I will explain just in case it helps anyone.

My PS3 Is In the DMZ on my router (Linksys Ag241v2), when utorrent is downloading and even after the program is not running (computer off) my PSN network fails to connect, however internet access remains ok. To get it back working is really actually a pain in the backside as you have to literally reset the router about 20 times and turn all computers and PS3 off, unplugged, Then PSN works 100% for me.

The problem for me at least was using utorrent (Even with or without ports forwarded for utorrent in the router) for some reason it screws my router up from allowing the PS3 to connect, i`m not sure why to be honest,

If anyone has a suggestion perhaps to why this happens i would be grateful for an explaination so i may resolve the issue. I`m going to try another client and see what happens in case its Utorrent specifc, however i`ve not seen any people having this issue with the PS3 and UT.

Hope that helps someone.
