Re: Your Guide To Putting Your PS3 Into a DMZ

How can I do this when I'm not the admin of the LAN I play on, and the admin won't do it for me?

Re: Your Guide To Putting Your PS3 Into a DMZ

Hi there folks, maybe this has already been answered but, i have a Linksys WAG325N and a PS3, im trying to play FIFA08 online and when i connect to play a game the game is really slow and eventually the game will stop etc. Now my broadband is running at 4.5mbs and i have 3 green bars and 100% signal. Will doing this DMZ thing sort that problem out?

Re: Your Guide To Putting Your PS3 Into a DMZ

just wandering if the nat problem will ever be sorted by sony after the 2.30 disaster that sent some ps3 to change from type 2 to 3.

It took a while for me to get a type 2. Wonder when it'll get fixed?

Re: Your Guide To Putting Your PS3 Into a DMZ

Okay, so Im new here on the forums but not new to the PS3. I have the 40Gb version. Ive had it quite a while and have been online up until 2 weeks ago, when i changed from a wired connection to wireless (A phone, cable TV and wireless broadband package).

I am currently with the ISP Tiscali (and always have been) and they've supplied me with a Siemens Gigaset SE587 Wireless Router. The default Gateway being 192.168.1.1.

Now believe, me I have searched high and low, all week looking for an answer. I have tried everything on other forums, Ive tried the PS3 Manuals, Ive tried PortForward.com - Everything i can think of, and yet, im still getting the same error - When i setup the connection in netowrk settings and "test connection" it scans for about 30 seconds and comes up with "'Obtain IP Address: Failed' and at the bottom of the screen: 'The key information exchange timed out'" It doesnt even get to Internet, PSNetwork UPnP etc...

My computer has been set a static IP address of 192.168.1.136 (thanks to portforward) and thus my PS3 has been set to 192.168.1.137 as it is the next device on the network.

Now I have previously followed the threadstarters advice regarding the DMZ before I joined these forums, and I have forwarded ports. I have also mixed and matched these two options, just incase they conflicted with each other. I have disabled / uninstalled any P2P software (that i rarely use anyway). I have aquired my ISP's DNS Primary & Secondary IPs, which are: DNS1 = 21.74.112.66 DNS2 = 212.74.112.67. And finally I have ensured that UPnP is activated on my Router.

When setting up on my PS3, I am entering all my information manually, as the "easy" and automatic
ways dont work either. I have set all the appropriate IPs and DNSs' (with the ones stated above) and
double checked my PS3's static IP is actually 192.168.1.137

I have run out of ideas. I dont know where to turn and I was hoping I could get some information from here.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

If you need any more info, just reply. Thanks!

Re: Your Guide To Putting Your PS3 Into a DMZ

Hi Bigdav,

I've followed exactely your instructions to have DMZ setted in my router and IP static in the PS3 network settings, but I still cannot log-in to the PSN with my account.

This is a nice issue because since I've got my PS3 I could create an account correctly because internet connection works fine in PS3 and my network is ok in my house. I have Irish Broadband in Dublin received by radio (breeze) 3Mo Down/Up (very fast) and my router is a D-Link DIR-655.

My router works as a dns releaser, my connection settings is on static IP by ISP. All pc in the network are connected without any issues. This kind of internet connection is a good one.

Here I give you more details about the interaction of PS3 and my router :

- DMZ activated on IP address of PS3

- UPnP activated in the router and PS3

- MTU in automatic on PS3, and in the router I've tried from 1400 to 1500 (rebooting every time obviously)

- ports forwarded just in case : 3658,3479,3478 UDP , 5223 TCP.

- Tried as well to dectivate SPI and firewall (no logic because DMZ lease everything on IP of PS3)

The same message is still there : THE CONNECTION WITH PSN TIMED OUT.

Sometime I get connection, but is during the night time or sometimes in the afternoon on week-ends but the error YOU'VE BEEN DISCONNECTED FROM PSN code : 8002A548 after 2 minutes appear.

I've checked with a friend that have the same type of connection in Dublin and he doesn't have any issue to log-in with a different router.

In Ireland the connection with PSN have no maintenance planned. I don't have any idea what's wrong, I have as well a XBOX360 and I never saw a lag and any issues with the connection to xboxlive.

Now 2 questions :

- Do I forget something on my router?

- Does the PSN network has too much connections and the servers cannot follow us?

Thanks in advance to tech me something new can give me a solid solution.

Re: Your Guide To Putting Your PS3 Into a DMZ

Up, sorry again,

I forgot to write that I've tried as well without router, so directly connected to the network with the ISP static address in the console (NAT1) and still nothing....

thanks

Re: Your Guide To Putting Your PS3 Into a DMZ

Hi, good detailed guide thanks.

Problem i'm having tho is when attempting to get my router address.    I goto Start Run, type ipconfig, but the window that opens containing this immediately closes down a fraction of a second after it opens, hence i cant get the info i need.

Any ideas pls?
