Re: How to put your PS3 into a DMZ

yeah since its been on a static IP i've had no problems with PSN, was playing COD4 last night. Other people within this thread have said that once in a DMZ their download speed tripled or quadrupled. so I thought I'd try it. In the DMZ options today is the pc and some mac address that is connected by ethernet, I don't know what it is but its certainly not my PS3.

BT has now turned turned Interleaving off, so I'll see if that makes things any better.

As for the static IP my PS3 is on, i took MB's advice and just added +50 to the last 3 digits. How can i find out what is in the "viewing" range of the hub?

Re: How to put your PS3 into a DMZ

All hubs have the same viewing range for the last number, which is between 0 and 255

Re: How to put your PS3 into a DMZ

Hi, I went through all of the steps fine until I had to find the DMZ bit on my router. I manged to get a link to the page where it was, and then tried to assign a device to it. However, all the connected devices were showing in the list, except my PS3.

Also, when I got on my router, it told me the PS3 already had a static IP, had it done the DMZ bit automatically?

Re: How to put your PS3 into a DMZ

Hey guys, I haven't had much troubles online until trying Red Dead Redemption.  Whenever I start an online game I am the only person, never once had any other players connect.  After looking round the net it seems it's because of NAT Type 3.  Whatever that means.

I followed the instructions exactly as posted here, and nothing changed.  When I run the internet test everything is fine, IP Success, Internet success, PSN Success, UPNP Available, NAT TYPE GODDAMN 3!

And when looking at the settings, the static address i assigned is being used by the PS3, and it is the same address allocated to the DMZ on my router.

I have a D-LINK 300 Router.

Any help? :smileysad:

Re: How to put your PS3 into a DMZ

Hello Everyone. I am trying to put my router into a DMZ because I cannot download the 1.11 update for Modern Warfare 2. (It gets to about 5% and then says an error occured, error code 80710723) I followed all the steps that this guide said to follow on the PS3 and My connection was good and my NAT type was type 2, just like the expected results in the guide. Then I went to put my router in a DMZ and it said my connection failed. I am very new to PS3 and PSN and Im having a hard time with these updates, can someone please help?

Re: How to put your PS3 into a DMZ

Blue Badger - might be worth rebooting the router, if you haven't already.

SuperStar - did you try putting the router IP into the DMZ, or the PS3 IP?
(should be the PS3 one)

And we weren't even testing for that..

Re: How to put your PS3 into a DMZ

[ Edited ]

for some that are having problems updating their MW2... (if you already have your PS3 correctly set in the DMZ on the router)... MW2 will say that "your NAT type: OPEN" in the online lobby if you have done it right...

problems applying updates: try deleting the MW2 file in the "Game Utility Folder" on the PS3 this will force MW2 to update itself with the all the latest updates again from scratch, you will also need to re-download and install the map packs as well (if you have bought any)...

All this will be lost in time... like tears in rain...Photobucket
