great postage

this is a fantastic post,at first i simply had e-net connected to ps3 that was hopeless connection(conn*) dropping out all the time host migration mostly failing. then i was using port forwarding(google this) giving psn 192.168.1.99 that improved my gaming experience but my conn would dropout if the wireless laptop startded bouncing off my modem or i wouldbe the only 1 in a party to lose conn to a game (codBops) very very annoying when playing in parties...no1 wants a dufus with a slow conn in ther team. aaaaanyway thankyou for this helpful info

Kudos glad you got a DMZ to work i think a lot fail grasping the static IP address set-up.

I know some routers probably need replacing if problematic with port forwarding or DMZ. Usually routers over 2 to 3 years old without recent software updates probably want replacing.

DMZ

[ Edited ]

It hasn't worked for me, I don't know why. I followed everything correctly on the first page. I have a SuperHub that allows me to 'host a DMZ' by inputting the last digits of the IP then clicking 'apply'. It also has another option called MTU, however I have just left that blank.

On the connection test it Succeeds on the Obtain IP, but fails on the Internet Connection?

Re: DMZ

MTU for the majority of ISP's should be set to 1500 occasionally some use 1492 in the router settings. On the PS3 network settings MTU to automatic is usually fine but setting manual to your routers number is ok aswell.

DNS error 80710102 means your DNS port Normaly 53 is not connecting quick enough.

Manauly setting DNS in the PS3 to the same VM DNS may be required to get the super hub to wake up and allow the connection.

194.168.4.100

and

194.168.8.100

once the super hub is awake you change the setings to google

8.8.8.8

and

8.8.4.4

As they auto update there DNS alot sooner than VM.

Do not use OpenDNS they are traffic shaping the connection when I use them..
