I am having a problem purchasing something in the Playstation store with my credit card, it keeps on telling me the details are not valid, but I have checked and re-checked so many times but still nothing. Please help. !!!!

I would advise waiting 48 hours before you try again. If the card still wont update then contact PlayStation Support for further assistance.

I've had the same problem all day... loading credit card info on account on PC and direct on PS3 and adding funds to my wallet so I can buy something
smells a bit like another Sony PS3 hack.. like when they shut down for a couple months.. a quick internet search shows this is a recurring problem.. sounds like it might be good time to jump ship to xbox soon...

I can't add funds to my wallet since the last update 11/07/12.
It's starting to annoy me really bad since I want to download "The 3rd birthday" which is only 10€ at the moment (until tomorrow) and I don't have the possibility at the moment to buy a PSN-Card.
I tried everything, changed my credit card details a couple of times, replaced "ö" with "oe" or "o", waited 48 hours before I tried it again but NOTHING worked for me. I also called the credit card support but they told me that my card is alright and should work (and it works, I tried it in the apple-store the other day).
Please fix this problem, Sony.

Same problem here. It confirmed my details when I set up this new PS3, but despite multiple attempts and re-entering my details, I either get a 'not valid' message, or an error code that is unhelpful.

This is obviously not just a one-off issue. Surely Sony knows what the issue is. I updated my wallet fine in June, and when i tried today, it sayys the credit card is invalid.
It is not our cards that have changes, but something that Sony has done eitherr with the PS3 upgrade or the PSN itself.
Surely Sony can provide better support that someone saying wait 48 hours or disconnect from the network and try again. That is PC mentality (reboot and hope its fixed)
Simple question........has Sony banned debit cards and virtual credit cards, a big part of their advantage is you can control your online risk
