Signal is 100% according to my PS3.
I suppose my question to all fellow users is does your PSN speEdtest from the ps3 menu give much lower results than a speEdtest.net test on your PCs and does it show lower connection speeds than you know you are getting?
Yep the speeds on the ps3 are an estimate & not very accurate at that.

Even the speed test on a PC can sometimes give inaccurate results. I've done it on mine and it's been below half of what it should be. Stopped the test and started again and it was showing up as normal.

its the ps3 that is causing the slow connections!! i got fibre optic 75 mb down 20 mb up and the ps3 still estimates 3 to 4 mb download and 2 to 4 mb upload wired or wireless. my pc ,laptop, ipod and phone are fast as fcuk and can give the stated speeds . so why should SONY say the speeds are estimated ?? when they are way too much UNDER ESTIMATED LOL . i think they should be able to get the speeds/connection as fast as your line can take ... unless they have installed cheap and nasty hardware in most of these supposedly hi tech multi media gaming CONsoles.

I've been watching LoveFilm on my PS3 for over seven months and only had problems at the beginning due to wifi interference from next door causing speed fluctuations. Changing the wifi channel fixed that. Many streaming media services are particularly sensitive to fluctuating bandwidth.
Netflix is a rare exception though. It seems to work fine when LoveFilm does not because it has an 'adaptive streaming' engine. In other words: It continually monitors network speed and adjusts picture quality on the fly accordingly. LoveFilm requires a constant bitrate, so if your network speed momentarily falls below the magic number, then the footage will stutter and buffer.
If you're only getting 6Mbps downstream, I would expect problems with services like LoveFilm and BBC iPlayer when somebody else on the same (home?) network is using a computer. It's not unusual for ADSL Max and ADSL2+ connections to fluctuate by as much as 2Mbps - particularly at peak usage times - and that leaves you dangerously close to the minimum requirement for many high quality and HD streaming services.

I'm going to have to move to Netflix. At least before the new Love Film app we could go for two types of streaming. Now it feels like they only offer one stream which is borderline here. The HD symbol simply means- will not work.
The new love film app works the same way as it does on netflix the quality will drop depending on your connection speed & the better your connection speed the better the quality.
The old love film app was a pain especially when it struggled with connection it would just completely cut out rather than adjust the bandwidth to compensate.
