People,
I will not support this. The ability to change PSN ID's manually would cause a moderation nightmare for my team. I appreciate your arguments about different regions having access to different features and will note your concerns in my weekly report - but as a representative of the SCEE moderation and community team, I think this is a bad idea.
In response to skunk's post about why it would cause a moderation nightmare: it would allow users to be deceptive. If I see MusterBuster in Killzone 2, glitching outside the map and go to moderate him - all I know is that his PSN ID is MusterBuster. So, I go to my moderation tools and find that 3 people have previously had the name of MusterBuster. How do I know which one deserves the warning?
From a personal point of view, it would be a nice to have, but to be honest I think it would turn PSN into a maelstrom of malice and deception.

I can see what you mean MB, but I think I might have a solution to this.
Say I start causing chaos, but before I get banned change my name to 3yeliroabab. If you search for babaoriley3, the servers recognise that I have changed my name and redirect you (and anyone else on any platform searching for babaoriley3) to my new page. Also, make it that people can't use anyones old name. This way it will make sure that the name is always linked to the account of the person who originally chose it. Mods should also be allowed to view name history.
I know this is probably very hard to implement, but I believe this way it will be best for everyone.

still why couldnt u just make a system where if people wanted to change their psn they had to wait a month,. that way, if the person is harrasing anyone or glitching on day. people could easily report it before he could change the name.
and maybe dont have a fixed date too, so that the person doesnt know which day, just within a month. so he dont go crazy the last day..
i think u should do some work on this.. xbox does it, even SCEJ!! and scee cant figure out a system. i understand moderation issues, but as i said if you put caps, rules and fees on it, maybe it wouldnt be an issue at all...

well wat you should do is when someone changes there name there old one can not be taken for a month that would make sure that when you catch someone breaking the rules all you would have to do is go onto your systems look up his id and it will say blshblah has changed his name blahblah is not avaiblt for 3 more weeks then it would redirect you to his new name

Can't there be software for this purpose? Tracking information. Use dates, trophy info (somebody without the killzone trophy list can't have played killlzone online) etc too find who it was. If you charge £5 for a name change which can only be done once a year then 1. Money will be made for such software to be developed and 2. The offender gets 1 chance a year to do this. Is that really a nightmare?

Guys..
Some of you're idea for going around MB's concerns are great..
BUT some if not all would take months if not years to put in place
who knows you would just be getting use to the ps4 by the time some of them was to go live...![]()
mod's like MB already take there work home with them as it is just think what it would be like if users could change there name after doing something they know they shouldn't work load would triple overnight do you really want to see a stressed out pumpkin? ![]()
there be no more posts finishing with "love MB" I can assure you that...![]()
there's also the report thing as well
the time it would take to investigate each report would be massively longer there for slowing down the time it would take to give the wrong do 'ers there medicine
just think of the backlog of reports that would go unanswered for who knows how long...
then the amount of complains that will follow with the slow responses to them said reports
there's something like 50+ countries SCEE cater for each new thing added needs to comply with each countries privacy laws it would be a legal nightmare just trying to get some of them idea's passed
i for one like the idea of having the option of change my username but i think it's just a little to late now seeing we all gone this long without it why change it now...
Let's just wait and see what House is going to do...
