PlayStation Network Facebook Tab - The Tutorial!

[ Edited ]

PlayStation now has a kick-butt Facebook app allowing you to connect with your facebook friends and compare trophies.

This tutorial will walk you through how to sign up to the app, and then add it as a tab to your facebook profile.

If you like this tutorial, smack the button below :smileywink:

Step 1 - Sign-in to Facebook

Well, seriously, you shouldn't need help with this!

http://www.facebook.com/

Step 2 - Go to the application

Simply click this link:

http://apps.facebook.com/playstation/

You'll be greeted by a page like the one below. This is asks your permission for the PlayStation Network Application to access your profile. If you wish to use the app, you must click allow so that it can get the information it needs to work.

Step 3 - Accept the Terms

Next up, you'll need to read and accept the Terms of Use. Read the wordy bits, then click agree at the bottom of this page.

Step 4 - Sign in to PSN

You'll now need to sign in to the PlayStation Network in order to link your PSN account with your facebook account. Simply sign in the same way you do on our forums :smileyhappy:

Step 5  - Oooh, get you!

Hurrah! You've now activated the PlayStation Network app. You should now see your trophy list, along with a tab which displays the PSN ID's of all your facebook friends.

To connect with a facebook friend, you'll need to navigate to the friends tab, and then hit the 'add a friend' button.

Step 6 - Adding your trophies as a tab on your profile

So, you're almost there. Now you can add the app as a tab on your facebook profile, making it easier for your friends to see your trophies.

To do this, you'll need to go to Account > Application Settings:

Next, locate the PlayStation Network Application and select 'Edit Settings':

You'll be greeted with a box which looks like the one below. Here, you'll find an area which says 'Tab: Available (Add)'. Click 'Add' and voila! All done.

So now that you're all set up, you can check out your own trophies, add friends according to who you're connected with on Facebook and, of course, brag about your platinum's on all of your mates' walls.

Enjoy!

I'm trying to add friends but I don't see an "Add Friend" button.

EDIT: I think I misunderstood.  It's a Facebook -> PSN friend connection, not PSN -> Facebook.  So I must need my friends to allow the application first.

Would be great if you guys could add the ability to send messages from PC (via Facebook) to PSN!

It took awhile for my friendslist to update on facebook. It was empty before but it randomly started to show people on there after about an hour.

Re: PlayStation Network Facebook Tab - The Tutorial!

Why can't this functionality be added to the PS3 natively? Honeslty, why get into bed with facebook? BTW, does FB even work on the PS3 Brower anymore?

When I go on the apps page I get,

The web page athttp://fbapp.ww.np.community.playstation.net/playstation/?fb_sig_in_iframe=1&fb_sig_iframe_key=6ea9a...might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

This is what I get too.  Is there a way to see your friends on the profile tab, or do we have to enter the app if we want to check?
