Re: Sub-account to master account?

The lack of action on this issue is becoming a real deal-breaker. My kids and I have been through PS 1, 2, and 3. Not being able to take your content (reputation, prestige, hard work) from sub to master account is a fatal flaw for Sony. We, and many others, are thinking it is time to find another gaming platform.

Re: Sub-account to master account?

Ok..I just got a game card for my 18th birthday and find out that I can't use it because I use a sub account and I may have done something stupid by deleting the master account because I forgot the password and I used a fake birthday that I also forgot....I need a way to solve this issue.

Make a new account and use the correct details, that's all you can do.

Re: Sub-account to master account?

I have had issues with this for quite some time now but it's only recently that it's starting to get on my nerves!

I recently bought a new PS3 and transfered everything over, giving the old ps3 to the original master account holder. I hoped (although i wasn't optimistic) that by deleting the master account holder, my sub-account would upgrade to master account (which quite clearly didn't happen). So i thought, "oh well, i'll just re-create another master account and i'll just have to use that to control the transactions on my sub account" ... oh how i was so wrong. Little did i know that the original master account will always have control over my sub account!

I eventually gave up and reluctantly decided to create a new psn which i knew would mean i would lose my trophies and online multiplayer data. What i didn't realise was that i'd also lose my saved data and that if i wanted to play the likes of Uncharted 3's Online multiplayer i would either have to buy the game again or purchase another network pass!

I'm just absolutely frurious! Not only will i now have to revert back to using the original master account to control my PSN, i will also have to suffer with not being able to access certain features and be restricted to a certain extent all because i was being HONEST and putting my real date of birth! I'm 20 years old, i shouldn't have to be monitored and restricted like a kid!

This is obviously an ongoing issue; this thread is proof that this has been a problem since AT LEAST 2010. So playstation, please tell me this, why has it taken you at least 2 YEARS to respond on the issue?

If you can give the PS3 3D capabilities through a software update, then surely upgrading a sub-account to a master account after someone turns 18 can't be difficult?

Sort. It. OUT.

Re: Sub-account to master account?

I couldn't agree with you more!

It's an absolute joke that Sony have restricted theirs users to such a point that people who are genuinely old enough to take control of their account, have to resort to paying money and starting everything from scratch.

I appreciate that there are security risks that need to be put in place... but I don't understand why a Master account holder can't release a Sub account. What are they actually trying to protect?

It's something that should have been in place from day one. At the end of the day, people turn 18, and should be treated like an adult.

I'm sure there are legal grounds that could be looked into. If your private details are locked into someone elses master account, then as a adult your personal information is now jeopardised. You also have statutory rights to things you've purchased. As soon as you turned 18, you gained rights that should not be control by Sony or the Master account holder.

Something to think about.

Rif.: Sub-account to master account?

I'm 16 years old. Shall I create a sub account or just put a fake age? Will they ever solve this problem? Cause I would really like to use my real age...

Re: Sub-account to master account?

When are they fixing this issue?

I was 17 when I purchased MY PlayStation 3 at launch, and I had to input my parents's name as master because U18 weren't allowed master account.

Now I'm 21, having my own Visa, and I STILL have to resort to my parents for online purchases.

This is absolute bull*****.

Re: Sub-account to master account?

[ Edited ]

What I think should happen is either (1. Sony should lower the age requirments to 13 or at least 15 (2. Sony should upgrade the accounts once this age requirment is met or passed or (3 Give the master account the power to upgrade sub accounts.

Seriously, 2 years back when I first got my PSP, I was only ten years old. I knew perfectly how to make accounts for websites, but no, my Mom wanted to make an account for me. She made my user Register5, not the usual survyguy79 I use on every site. And the worst part is that she didn't know that she was making the account for ME, so she put my gender as Female, when CLEARLY I've been male my whole life, or so I think 0.0  Back then I just pushed aside because there's barely any online play for it and none of my friends have PSP's so known of them will see it. Then 2 years later I find a great bargain for a PS3 system, 320 GB, bundled with a PS Move and Everybody Dance, for only about 300 some dollars. So I had to make a new account so none of my friends would see the weird account for the PSP. I saved the hassle of a fake birthday and decided to make it a sub account under Register5. That was a mistake. I can't make my own wallet, Facebook is disabled, and some services like Music Unlimited are banned to sub accounts. And if I delete my account and make a new one, I lose all my games that I downloaded, along with my trophies, and my friends won't be able to find me. This is utter Bull*****!!

Who else wants to form a petition about this?

I'm also gonna send a stern e-mail to Sony about this, including a link to this disscussion. Something has to be done about this. And who knows, maybe X-Box doesn't treat you like a kid! I'm 12 years old, but I will be 13 next month, and teenagers have almost the same ammount of rights as anyone else.

EDIT: I just sent the complaint to Sony. Let's hope for the best!

Re: Sub-account to master account?

RabidWalker, nothing against you or anyone else who works for Sony and whatever, but you need to move your asses and solve this problem. There's an entire thread of people complaining about the same thing, just type "sub account" on google and you'll find even more people whit the same problem. Do you hate honest people? Because I don't see my friends from when I was underage having problems with lying about their age. But stupid me who had to ask his father to create a master account, create a sub account for me, now is turning 20 and moving out of the country to study won't be able to purchace games online for his brand new PSVita. What's the point in buying you're stupid consoles and always give you support if treat customers like *****!? The only solution you people give us is to create a new account. Are we just supposed to forget, as in my case, the hundreds of euros we wasted on stuff online via the master account wallet, all the saves and trophies associated to our account? Our PSN ID? Seriously, don't give us the usual "I passed the message to someone who is in a higher position but still won't care" and please do something.
