Hi I've had my ps3 for less than 6 months and my ps3 doesn't connect by wifi anymore, it works by Ethernet cable though, I don't think there is anything wrong with my wifi, as it still works with my other PC, iPad and laptop. I have used my wifi for the past 6 months with my ps3, I've reset my wifi router and still nothing, HELP!!!!

Does your controller still work wirelessly? If it does then the wifi hardware on your PS3 is likely to be ok.

When you go to setup the wireless network on your PS3 are you able to see your wireless network's SSID by doing a scan?

Are there any new wireless networks in the area that might be interfering? Try changing the channel on your router.

What type of encryption are you using?

Try using a different type of encryption or turning it off entirely.

If your router supports 802.11N make sure it is also running 802.11G (the PS3 can't do N).

Note that your other devices running wireless N won't get the full benefit unless they are using WPA2-AES encryption. If your PS3 can't connect to your router using WPA2-AES then you should see if there is new firmware available for your router.

(PSPs cannot do WPA2 and it seems they never will).

In networking, I always advise people to not use wifi unless they absolutely have no other option. If you can use an ethernet cable, use an ethernet cable. That goes double for the PS3. It will work fine for 12 months and then suddenly it can't connect to your wifi. A week later it suddenly decides to work again. It's crap and in this day and age it shouldn't be happening (Don't even get me started on the fact that the PS3 can't read external HDD's that use NTFS).

It's not you or your router, it's just the PS3. If you can, use an ethernet cable. If not, good luck with that.

Based on the description provided by OP, we cannot come to any conclusions as to what the problem may be.

That is why sufficient troubleshooting needs to be completed before making any assumptions.

Given that the PS3 is less than 12 months old though, *if* there is an issue with the console, we would suggest contacting your local PlayStation Support Centre for further advice.
