Playstation Plus Ideas.

Here are a few ideas that would be useful for people who bought Playstation Plus.

1 < 1 Hour on full games is not worth it. for 1 reason is the waiting time for the game to download which takes awhile

2 < Would love to see content change every week instead of every month.  Once a month aint really worth it to be honest.

3 < 3 Day Playstation Plus Trial to show people what its like to experiance what playstation plus is about.

There the only ideas i could kind of think off. If anyone wants to suggest an idea just post it below.

So people are going to download a full game just to trial it for 3 days when you also indicated that you are not happy to wait for the download to finish... Really contradicting there.

The content in the PlayStation Store updates on a weekly basis but the PS Plus updates on a monthly basis. If they updated it every week, it would be minimal things changed, if any at all. There is not enough new content released each week to churn it out constantly.

Hey there,

Just a few counter points here for you :smileyhappy:

The PlayStation Plus updates do occur throughout the month now - this has been something that's changed more recently. There are different offers throughout the month that begin or end in between monthly updates. These may include free or discounted items.

Instead of having a trial of PlayStation Plus, which is a paid service, there is a video on the PlayStation Store that offers a sizeable glimpse into what PlayStation Plus can do for you.

Yeah but he has to download and watch the video.... and he doesn't like wasting his time on downloading things...

Re: Playstation Plus Ideas.

PlayStation Plus offers a neat background downloading service where you can set the system to turn on at a time like 1am when you'd normally be asleep. It downloads the games and powers off again giving the illusion it magically appeared! :smileysurprised:

Free trials do happen occasionally with PS+, and the Videos and store content are plenty of incentive to invest in it! :smileyhappy:

Weekly updates would be too hard to guarantee, as Home proved. It isn't always possible to guarantee content and you'd see weekly rants of content being spread too thinly. Big bulky updates are much better anyway! Would you rather get your christmas presents all at once on Christmas Day, or torn into bits and given to you a day at a time?

Re: Playstation Plus Ideas.

One would imagine he's referring to games that are extremely large. Like 10gig+ and if it takes half a freaking day to download something just to play it for a few hours, that would make it redundant. Plus full games have trophies which for some people are incentive in themselves.

While I must agree that PS+ changing things weekly would leave little to no updates, fortnightly would be fine. That said i'm happy with it as it is.

Also, a 3 day PS+ trial wouldn't be such a bad idea. Most people cbf downloading preview videos so hardly anyone will check out the PS+ demo vid. A 3 day trial would show them the benefits and give them enough of a taste that when all their freebies die after 3 days, they might actually buy membership. Like it wasn't better then XboxLIVE already price-wise anyhow.

Re: Playstation Plus Ideas.

I have two major issues with the PS Plus system.

I think the auto-download of patches and system software, and the synchronisation of trophies is, on the whole, a good idea. The two problems I have are:

1) You need to enable auto-signon, and have your PSN password saved on the PS3 concerned before the auto-download feature will work. I consider this a big security issue in the event of your PS3 being stolen, or even enabling children, etc to bugger about with your account.

2) The patches that PS+ auto-downloads seem to be for EVERY game you've ever played, irrespective of whether you still own it. I assume it uses trophy information to do this, as it downloaded Lego Harry Potter patches, and I've not played that game for ages - far before I registered for PS+.
Surely a similar tickbox system as it uses for auto-upload of gamesave info and a prompt when the disc was first inserted would be far more flexible.
Also, if this played game list is stored somewhere (as it obviously is), then access to this listing to enable/disable auto features would be a nice addition.

Re: Playstation Plus Ideas.

As I understand it from the promotional blurb, the game patch downloads are only for the last 10 games played.

This is available to you already.

If you've got a game you no longer play, and have no intention of playing it again, just delete the game and and saved data from your console.

It will not download any updates if there is no data for it on the console.

You can find the items under Game -> Game Data Utility  & Saved Data Utility - press 'triangle' and Delete on relevant content.

In regards to needing to have auto-sign in and your password saved, unfortunately there's no other way around this as it does need to authenticate to perform all the tasks associated.

Re: Playstation Plus Ideas.

curious...(re:auto download) do/could or would the updates include cloud saved data from previous ps3's? as for + i'd like plus+ to offer more exclusive avatars & themes.....ones in 3d would be sweet or holographic ones that move when you manipulate the sixaxis....make them only available to plus+ members & never available in the regular store! (awesome ones, other than the meh available)
