If monkeys could make fire...

37 Replies 253 Views Created 18-07-2012

I thought that the GD rabble could use a thoughtful and considered debate.

If monkeys or some other clever species discovered how to create fire should we exterminate them before they start challenging us?

Monkeys did make fire and look where it got us...

Dolphins have an inherent elemental issue in the whole fire making department.

However, if they do indeed make fire, we're already screwed because it means they've already progressed past SCOWBA* gear on the tech-tree...

They breathe out of water anyway. They're mammals

Breathing out of water doesn't make them a mammal, frogs aren't mammals. Imagine a frog with a box of matches.

LOL jungleboy got you there.... Yes I know they're mammals, and also...

In principle, a dolphin can live for many hours out of the water, since, like humans, it breathes with its lungs. However, a dolphin's skin must be kept damp at all times. In addition, its body must be cooled by pouring ice water on its flippers, which carry numerous blood vessels just below the surface of the skin. Finally, when a dolphin lies on the ground, as opposed to floating in the water, pressure is created on its internal organs, which can cause general stress and difficulty.

But I think the joke worked better in the more concise, albeit scientifically inaccurate, way I originally told it. Of course that is subject to personal opinion - but that is my opinion.

Anyway, I think if apes were to become a threat then humans would take action just like they did on one of the Planet of the Apes films.

I agree, but we'd never be able to while people listen to those animal loving opponents of progress. :Argh:

Did he?

Where in my post do I state that mammals are the only things which breathe air?

I am just pointed out that Dolphins are mammals and as such breathe air. and not water.

And yes I know frogs and toads are amphibans and breathe air as well. So do snakes and lizards and they're reptiles.

Jesus ok dude. WP, sir - WP.

Dolphins also need to stay wet, which is opposed to the act of making fire.

The antecedent of how dolphins came into this JOKE thread...

Was my comment about training them to make fire really so bad that it had to be removed?
