La Sarthe tips/info. for GDers.

Seeing as there is a big group of us from here racing in the last event, here's what I've found out so far.

Fuel :

Looks like it's about 300 units needed for the race.

We start with 100 in the tank, therefore you will need to add 200 at some stage during the race.

Note that it's around 30 units per lap.

Tyres :

Softs seems to handle 2 laps comfortably.

Possibly 3 with good tuning and driving style.

Otherwise it's a harder compound (mainly for rears) if you wish to do 3 laps per stint, but are struggling to tune Softs for the full 3 laps.

Strategy :

Can't see anyone 2 stopping.

A 10 lap race means a 4 lap stint if 2 stopping ... the tank can't hold enough fuel.

Therefore it's 3 or 4 stops, depending on how you tackle it.

Suggestions ...

3 stops : Stints of 2, 3, 3, 2 laps.

4 stops : Stints of 2, 2, 2, 2, 2 laps.

Track tips :

Tuning is almost mute for the majority of the lap.

If you wish to tune, concentrate on the winding last sector.

Shortcut penalties are everywhere, and it's easy to get caught out.

Drive the track as cleanly as possible.

Avoid shortcut penaties at all costs when entering the long straights from the chicanes.

Pit entry ... just gun it flat-out.

Bob will take to the sand, but I think it's quicker than him driving the pit road.

Qualy :

Lap times will be around 3:50 to 4:00 mins.

You need 30 units of fuel per lap.

Softs are good after 1 out lap ... so fairly decent for the flying timed lap.

Therefore run 2 laps, just to burn fuel ... should be around 40 units left.

Pit for fresh tyres, and add 20 units.

That's just enough fuel to complete the out lap and the flying qualy lap.

Under pressure on the flying lap though, because obviously you won't have fuel to drive around and pit again.

Yeh, stupid server clash I think.

I don't understand how we can successfully be in a lobby one day, and fail the next.

Anyway, nice try.

I learnt a little more.

Got my softs to hang in long enough for 3 laps ... just.

Longer gears, zero toe on the rears, and brake balance heavily towards the front seems to help.

I didn't try, but Phoenix quickly threw away the mediums idea, and from past experience I would tend to agree.

While they seem to wear better, they loose grip when only half worn ... pointless.

Must give it a go in the dark soon.

Test out the lights on the TVR ... if I can work out which button to press on the DS3.

Here's a piece on "stammering" that displays how wrong you are in terms of it effecting your form in typing.

Also it wouldn't be classed as "bullying" instead its classed as "harassment" of a sort and none were intentional.

I'm afraid you're dead wrong with that statement in attempt of conveyance of contradictory speaking form on tacky notes.

I'm fixing my mistakes in future so you can't say things like that.

Spent most of the time swapping lobbies. :smileysad:

I'm going to watch the MotoGP races ... big final races to decide the 2013 World Champs. ... then I might head back in to try some more.

Jumped on and changed my controller buttons so I could manipulate the lights, and gave it a quick run in the dark last night.

Looks like a 3 stopper is probably the best way to do the race.

Just need those softs to handle the 3rd lap for 2 stints, as the other 2 stints will only be 2 laps each anyway.

I'm thinking a 2 laps, 3 laps, 3 laps, 2 laps strategy is the way to go.

Jumping online in a couple of hours time.

Going to try some laps at night.

Try and get used to it.

Everyone is welcome to join me.

I have a setup that can do 3 laps on softs, and it's a fairly quick setup too, if anyone is interested in stealing it.
