Sugar on bread

38 Replies 238 Views Created 05-05-2012

I've been having a debate with a friend, who doesn't believe it's a common thing people have eaten, or still do.

I used to when I was a kid. Anyone else?

Yeah, sugar is a bit expensive isn't it? Should I donate some for the Harvest Festival and hope it ends up with you?

Still done, but fell out favour when everyone lost their teeth.

It was a real working mans thing to do I think. Sugar sammich  even did it here in ireland. People who do it take 10 sugars in their tea too, and put sugar on their cornflakes.

Im laughing cause I know someone who did it, and when I think about it now, its so over the top.

Nah, that was bread 'n' dripping. Leftover fat from a rare sunday roast spread over your bread was the thing to do. As for sugar? That just sounds completely wrong
