Re: PSP Instructions: Updating and USB Mode

Would someone care to help, I've followed the step by step guide(USB to PSP) numerous times and it doesn't work

I got my PSP for Christmas PSP Slim the Vader one

I today tried to update it to the newest firmware, I keep on getting the message "The game could not be started. (80020148)"
My current firmware is 3.60
I looked for help on google and such, and it said that I have homebrew or something like that on my PSP, but I havent put a single file on my PSP except game saves, and a few songs.

So please someone help

Thanks in advance

Re: PSP Instructions: Updating and USB Mode

Was the PSP brand new or pre-owned?
i had no problem updating from 3.60... does ur 1 have sumthin like 3.60 *** (*** referring to any letters)?
if so, then u r on custom firmware (which is better than official, i have to admit), but u can only update to the newest custom firmware (i dont no link and cannot post it on official PSP forums anyway).

erm... thats the only thing i can think of... sorry if its no use.

Re: PSP Instructions: Updating and USB Mode

It was brand new

its not custom firmware it is plain jane 3.60

I'm thinking if nothing else works, I'll either return it, or put custom firmware on it

I talked to a couple of chums who have some and they said download it straight to my PSP, but I don't have a network, so I'm off to McDonald's to see if it works

and its not that big of a deal for now, I can still play and games and stuff
just it wont update

Thanks for the help though

Re: PSP Instructions: Updating and USB Mode

Why can I not access youtube and newgrounds on the psp? Is there some extra software I have to download?

Do UMDs come in nothing but movies and games? Do they not have any educational stuff?

Re: PSP Instructions: Updating and USB Mode

I think I might have messed up bad I tried to update it again, and it almost worked the softer update thing starts then it stops and says "The update cannot be started. The data is corrupted. (SGT90000001)" Once again Google says I am editing files, but I havent touched a thing, I reformatted my Mem Stick and everything nothing works I am begining to think that portables and I do not get along edit: the only thing that I could have done wrong is I accidentally placed the EBOOT in the PSP file instead of GAME -> UPDATE hope I didnt fry my PSP still plays games, music, and picture's another edit: it no longer has new problem but has revert to the old problem, my chums and I aren't able to hang, but Friday we are, hopefully we can fix it. Sadly they aren't the best source of help though, they have all broken theirs from dropping it, or putting Homebrews on their PSP

Re: PSP Instructions: Updating and USB Mode

For anyone experiencing the psp type A or type B message when connecting via USB, and it says it cannot find drivers.

The solution I have found to work well is to let the device wizard let you choose driver location, when you have selected that option get your computer to search:

C:\Windows\System32

And make sure to check the "search all subfolders" tab

This SHOULD get your computer to find the drivers needed, just repeat for as many things come up until it says device is ready to use.

This mainly seems to be an issue for Vista but if it helps anyone on XP then thats all well and good  Hi Tyrant. We got 3 new PSP 2003's slim and lites for the kids this xmas, running System software version 3.60. and hit the problem you described in getting the message PSP type A. Went thru your steps and still not working. Formatted the new Magic Gate 1.0Gb Pro Duo stick and turned the USB charging to off. Still dont know where to find the file to make the memory stick visible to the PC.
It could be as simple as the Windows Version being 98SE, if this is the problem can you let me know, and likewise if not the prob can you tell me where things are going wrong?

Hmmm not too sure about how to get in work on 98SE, my solution is for people on Vista who have that trouble

But other than that did you make sure to tick the search subfolders icon?? (assuming there is one, never used windows 98 before)
