PSP - "to use this content, you must activate the system (8010850F)"

14 Replies 42,450 Views Created 11-01-2010

My PSP got turned off while LBP was loading.

When I turned it on again there was a blue wall of death that said the system settings were corrupt and to press circle to restore defaults.

I did that and then went through setting time, location, name etc. Then re-setup network connection, theme settings until all looking good again.

But, when I went to play LocoRoco 2 got told "to use this content, you must activate the system (8010850F)"

same with CTR and all the game demos downloaded from PSN

After reading forums seems I must activate the PSP on my PS3 presumably because PSP was plugged into the PS3 to download from PSN Store.

But won't this use up one of my '3 lives' for use of downloaded PSP content?

Is there any other option?

For games the "to use this content, you must activate the system (8010850F)" message can be removed, and access to your downloaded content allowed, by either

1. signing in to PSN on your PSP then selecting account management > activate/ deactivate > games

or

2. connecting the PSP to your PS3 bia USB and signing in then selecting account management > activate/ deactivate > psp > games

For comics the only option seems to be to delete all comics from the PSP and then download them again

But, the main thing is to make sure everyone who uses your PSP knows not to turn it off when it is accessing the memory card or UMD

The download list on the PlayStation Store does not have a limit to how many times you are able to download content to your console. You do however have a limit to how many Authorised consoles can access your download content.

@astraboy
I rang the NZ support desk this morning and was told that I was allowed to download to up to five devices. I presume that by having to re-set my PSP that this means I can now only authorise 3 more, the first authorisation being lost due to corrupt settings file?

Got home. Signed in to PSN on the PSP.

Selected account management > activation > games and activated the PSP.

So I can now play my games.

Still can't read the comics I've bought - when go to open a comic get the "to use this content, you must activate the system" message.

When I select account management > activation > videos/comics I'm told that it's 'not available in your region'.

I bought the comics at the NZ PSN Store, via my (wireless network connected) PSP; the comics are there in my store download history . . and now I'm told that functionality isn't available in my region,

and I can't read the comics I bought.

How crap is that?

Try deleting your comics and redownloading them. If that doesn't work, I would probably ring up Sony support about it.

Also, PSP activation is totally different to PS3 activation. I think only a single PSP system can have your account on it, and it won't count towatds your PS3 account uses.

Hi joneau,

Can you please be more specific, add in some details about what type of memory card you're talking about.

It might be best if you contact your local Support Centre and we can walk you through exactly what needs to be done.

Hi,

I bought DJ Max 3 from the US store and put it on my Vita, however.. I cannot play the game on my Asia account because it says 'the owner of this application is another player'

Since Sony made the ridiculous decision of not allowing Vita owners to access content manager on different PSN accounts, the only way I can play this game is on the US account, which I don't want to do (the only reason I use the US account is because Sony are too lazy to update PS stores with the same content as everywhere else)

Is there any solution around this? My $20 purchase should be able to carry across PSN accounts, and not have to deal with this nonsence. Thanks in advance

Edit: Another thing which is amusing is that DJ Max 3 isn't even on the Asia store, despite being a Korean game, so US store is the only way to pick this up.
