You could try completely draining it to the point it won't turn on even after leaving it for an hour or two, then letting it charge for 16 or more hours. This may provide a small boost to the battery performance after doing it two or three times, other than that I'm afraid you're out of luck.

Strange's suggestion is a good one, if you wear the battery down until its completely empty and then charge it up completely this may help the battery life.
Otherwise you may still be able to find a long life slim battery for the PSP which was an official battery for the PSP launched some time ago.

They may still sell them directly, or know of where to purchase them perhaps?
