I suppose aloth of the developers have gone bust or there are license issues?

This is probably the issue for a lot of titles.

But i'm assuming SONY owns the rights to Psygnosis titles (now studio liverpool) ...Lemmings etc.

I think another major stumberling block,is that the AMIGA never did well in the USA & Japan (their loss).

Although it was huge in europe and other small pockets round the world.

this is a stumberling block, becasue the industry seems to deliver titles for american and japanese tastes.

Although, a great game,is a great game - Regardless of it origins.

Shame because, those remakes that have appeared on the store have been a success - Stardust for example (i prefer the AMIGA original though).

Oh...And i have SWOS on the 360 - And its awsome.Would love to see it on ps3.

Re: CLASSIC AMIGA GAMES

This is getting pretty *****ing retarded.

I can see why people want maybe PS1, PS2 classics etc, because not everyones PC can run these games through an emulator - but *****ing Amiga games? Are you serious?

What the ***** do you want next? Atari 2600 games? Heck let's get Atari PONG on there while we're at it.

Let alone asking for remakes of 30 year old games.

There's a couple of Amiga games that I like, and guess what? I ran them through an emulator when I want to play them, it's not hard to do.

I would hardly put the AMIGA into he same bracket as the 2600 (not dissing atari - I loved my 2600).

Yes we can use emulators - But there are various problems with these. One of the main ones being that most amiga games ran at 50hz and most PC monitors use 60hz.Resulting in very jerky scrolling compared to real AMIGA's.

There are ways round this - Powerstrip for example, but its not easy to use.And could damage you monitor,if it wasnt designed to be used in this manner....The 100hz trick isnt very convincing in my experience.

The remakes that have appeared on modern machines have been very succesful - SWOS,Speedball 2,Lemmings,Worms,Monkey island,Stardust,Another world ,alien breed.

I actually think PS1 titles have aged much, much worse than the AMIGAs - Mainly because the psone used blocky polygons. And look terrible today ...2D games have aged much better.Still look dated today though.

Also..We are having NEO GEO,Mega-drive games on the store.Which can also be emulated on PCs.And these games,in my opinion arent a patch on the ones mentioned in this thread.

So yeah - I'd love to see lots of AMIGA classics on the store - And i would certainly buy them.

We all have different opinions though.:smileyhappy:

A remake of Cannon Fodder would be out of this world.

Hell yeah! Specifically, I love VCS classic 'Adventure'. I still play it from time to time under emulation. First game I ever saw that had emergent gameplay, i.e. where the interaction between different objects could be exploited or could work against you without there being a specific coded behaviour (that blooming bat...)

>ahem<

Without wishing to seem like I'm sitting on the fence, I can see merit in both sides of the argument. In most regards, like ArsenalMark, I'd rather see people creating new games that take advantage of the consoles than recreating old classics. Why would I want to play Microprose Golf again, as much as I enjoyed it at the time, when I can be playing Everybody's Golf?

But... Some of the classics (SWOS, for example) did nail the gameplay, and I've enjoyed being able to play games like Pinball Fantasies again while on the move, on PSP. Better than the average 'minis' game anyway. There are a handful of classics I'd be happy to see resurrected, particularly so I can play them on PSP. Which is a better home for them than the big console under the telly.

But I'm bemused when people hearken on about any old game that has been built on and improved immeasurably since it was released. For most of them, my response would be: [Insert game title here]? Seriously? Have you played it recently?

</rant>

We've had Pinball Dreams and Fantasies on minis... Need Illusions and Slam Tilt and I'll be properly happy...
