It’s our first update to the Instant Game Collection here in SCEE and that brings a new Game of the Month! Congratulations if you’ve already figured out what it is.

I can now confirm that from 4th July until the beginning of August, all our PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to download Deus Ex: Human Revolution as part of their subscription.

Here’s a reminder of what’s in store for you…

I’m very pleased Square-Enix have agreed to provide this game, it’s certainly to my mind one of the finest titles of 2011 and a personal favourite.

THE TRUTH WILL CHANGE YOU. To save his life after a deadly attack, Adam Jensen had no choice but to become physically augmented with cybernetics. Driven by his need for answers, he soon finds himself chasing down leads all over the world. The choices he makes, as he unravels a vast conspiracy, will help determine the fate of humanity.

If you want to take full advantage of everything Deus Ex: Human Revolution has to offer, there are also three downloadable content packs available:

The Explosive Mission pack contains an additional bonus mission, Tong’s Rescue, the Remote-Detonated Explosive Device and the Automatic Unlocking Device.

The Explosive Mission and Tactical Enhancement pack contains all of the above, plus the Double-Barrel Shotgun, the Silenced Sniper Rifle and 10,000 extra in-game credits.

Finally, The Missing Link pack adds a whole new section of the campaign that covers the events that take place while Adam Jensen is missing for three days during the game. Where did he go and what did he do? You’ll need this pack to find out.

I am very pleased to tell you that the above packs are all a whopping 50% off exclusively for PlayStation Plus subscribers for the next two weeks, so grab them early to avoid disappointment and complete your Deus Ex experience.

And now, the icing on the cake – if you’ve caught “franchise fever” then you can see where it all began (although since it’s chronologically a sequel that’s not quite right) and grab yourself a copy of the PS2 smash hit Deus Ex, certainly one of the greatest games ever made, also at 50% off.

What else this week then?

Well starting today we have two new PSN titles launching, both of which have significant discounts in their launch week – for you JRPG fans out there we have Rainbow Moon, an epic adventure with hours and hours of gameplay and if you’re feeling a little board (HA!) why not give Dungeon Twister a throw (I’m on fire!) – as the classic board game is updated for a digital release, offering single and multiplayer action with tons of replayability.

That’s it from me today – you’ll hear from me again in two weeks when we’ll be dropping in with two titles – it’s almost time to bid a fond farewell to Chime Super Deluxe and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine which leave us on July 18th – if you want to keep hold of these titles make sure you grab them and add them to your download list or you’ll lose access to them.

What’s coming up? Come back soon to find out!

Huge Discounts

Dungeon Twister at 50% off until 18th July

Two teams of adventurers with supernatural powers are locked up in the same dungeon. Only one team can walk out. Will it be yours? Choose to flee or to fight. Make the dungeon’s rooms rotate to help you advance… or prevent your opponent’s progress. Play alone or confront other players on PlayStation Network in this turn-based strategy game.

Rainbow Moon at 20% off until 18th July

Rainbow Moon is a beautiful role-playing game filled with exploration, turn-based battles, and character development. Six playable main characters with upgradeable weapons and armour, and more than 20 challenging dungeons await you in a fascinating story that lasts over 40 hours.

New Avatars
  • Robo Transmitter
  • Robo Cyclops
  • Hockey Mask
  • Evil Graffiti Mouse
  • Evil Graffiti Cat
  • Crazy Television Avatars
  Dynamic Themes
  • Summer Games Dynamic theme

More to come later this month! Keep your eye on the PlayStation Store Updates!

Re: Heads-Up PlayStation Plus Update - 4th July 2012

So, that's Deus Ex: Human Revolution free for a month and two new games to be added to the list in place of Warhammer and Chime in a couple of weeks' time.

(If you're a subscriber and you haven't yet added Chime or Warhammer 40K: Space Marine to your download list – doesn't matter if you actually download them right now – then you'd better step to it soon!)

So how do people think about Deus Ex? What do you think we'll be getting on July 18th.

A little bird tells me that the store team are genuinely interested to hear what people think, what they'd like to see, so why not add your thoughts here and we'll get one of the mods to point Ross to the forum...

Personally, I'm a tiny bit disappointed by Deus Ex. I mean, kudos to the Store team for picking a great game, but it's been available to buy for £10 since about Christmas, so I'd expect most people who want the game to have bought it by now. Still, as someone who buys plenty of games, I can't expect them to somehow avoid everything I've got in my collection.

Of course, providing new stuff would help militate against that problem and I think I'd rather see new PSN downloadable games (of good quality) rather than year-old BD titles. And given that I'm getting a massive 800kilobit/s download rate at the moment, the smaller the download the better for me... :smileyhappy:

I think PS+ is a cracking opportunity for publishers to gain an instant online population for multiplayer gaming, though there is also the side effect that PS+ users will get something new to distract them a month later.

In the early days of PS+ there was more giving away of DLC going on. How about some ModNation Racers DLC giveaway? But I'm glad to see there are still plenty of PS+ discounts still going on, despite the shift in emphasis.

Finally, I reckon there's scope for PS+ users getting a choice in their free stuff. Teething troubles aside, Sony has managed to provide choice in the form of the ApocalyPS3 freebies, so why not say to subscribers 'You can have this, or this, or this', or say 'pick two of the following games...' – that would allow PS+ to offer some great PSN titles for a second time without having to deny new stuff to long-term subscribers; it would allow Vita stuff to be offered to Vita owners without leaving the PS3-only crowd with nothing.

Anyway... Roll on 18th July, I'm curious...

Will definitely be downloading Deus Ex wasn't ever sure about the game. Watched a few gameplay vids so i'll give it ago. Fingers crossed Ratchet and Clank All 4 One makes an appearance the US have had it since the PS+ reboot. Can't fault the service so far being a PS+ newbie in for the the long haul i think.

They need to put The X-Files (PS1) on the PS Store.

Maybe even make it free on PS+, that'll make me resubscribe.

So far I really like the new PS+ set up as it seems to ensure that there is something for everyone. Even though I already have Deus Ex: Human Revolution, it is a fantastic offering for those who have yet to try it out, and on the plus side the DLC is 50% so I'm covered for that :smileyvery-happy:

There will be on some occassions where I have some of the games on offer (case and point: I had 4 games from the innitial PS+ reboot offering :smileysurprised:) though I still feel that the service is more than worth the price of admission with it being paid off with the discounts alone. The main point here is that PS+ will be aimed for everyone, some months will have new stuff, other months will have some content you already have but with at least 3 new games a month and various discounts and other freebies, I'm sure there will be something for everyone.

Also, I like the plan for a staggered release of content each month, game of the month at the beginning and the two rotating games halfway through, as it allows for people to download, play and enjoy the games on offer without feeling innundated with a huge pile of content.

Seeing some DLC being offered as part of the subscription again would be cool as it can help some people make the jump to buy a full game, for me that was Fallout 3 after all of the DLC received a staggered release in October 2010 for Plus subscribers. Perhaps free DLC offerings from MP centric titles could help reinvigorate and get more people into those games or as an alternative, offering the MP component seperately ala Killzone 3 but I'm going off topic with that point.

I think there's another thread on here for people to suggest prospective PS1 re-releases. :smileyhappy:

I'd rather people here stuck to suggesting actual PSN/BD games, existing or forthcoming. Otherwise we'll get a thousand requests for Spyro, Crash Bash, Tombi and PS1 Castlevania... Not that they aren't valid requests...

Criterion's new Need for Speed: Most Wanted would be a bit special, but I think it would probably be financially dumb to give it away on release. :smileywink:

Thinking of that though, I find myself thinking 'it would be nice if PS+ gave away NfS:The Run or Ridge Racer Unbounded' - precisely because they're flawed: I wouldn't mind playing them but am not so fussed about buying them. But PS+ wouldn't do itself any favours by giving away mostly average games...

I'm still waiting for From Dust to make a PS+ appearance...hint hint :smileywink:

PS: Deus Ex is awesome if you're into that kind of thing. Don't expect CoD action though.

Re: ps plus update

Last month was just the initial set-up with an artificially large set of new games.

Each month there will be three new games. There are two more games due to reach us on 18th July.
