On playing Journey the second time, at the beginning of the game I came across a dude that was golden like at the end. Anyone know how to do it?

Same thing. I suppose it might be a reward for 100% completion

It happens when you have collected all symbols. See if you can get one of those Golden players to guide you to them.

Once you have found all of the symbles and objects in the game, you go to the hub and select it from there. It has advantages too. The Golden coloured robe gives you a longer scarf at the begining and the ability to charge up by just being on the ground. If you come across a player that has the robe, that person can potentially help to give you more flight time too if you stay very close during flight.
