Ok, I buy tons of games through the PS Network. I really like the whole system especially the back catalogue of PS1 and 2 games.
I own a PS Vita and a PS3. It seems on the PS3 store lots of PS1 and PS2 games are listed as being compatible with PSP. Examples are Final Fantasy 7 and Theme Hospital (these are the two I wanted to play today but there are loads listed like this.)
I presumed obviously wrongly that anything compatible with PSP would be compatible with PS vita. I love playing the handheld as I can play on the go or whilst watching television etc. so the opportunity to play games like Final Fantasy 7 on my PS Vita seem amazing.
So heres my question. Firstly do the PS2 games listed as being compatible with PSP actually work on the PSP? Lets use Final Fantasy 7 as an example. Secondly, if they do (as they are described as in the store description), a) why is it completely unrecognised on PS Vita system and b) are there plans to make these games work on Vita system.
I just want to know if I can wait it out to be able to play them on my vita, or if I can go and buy a cheap PSP second hand to play them, or if they are just falsely advertised as being handheld compatible.
A response to this would be very much appreciated as so far this is the only real issue I have with the PS Vita system other than this I think it is amazing. Thank you.

I don't believe any PS2 games are compatible with PSP. If it says so on the store then it's surely an error.
The Vita does not yet play PSOne games, but a dedicated PS1 emulation will be made available for the Vita via a firmware update at some point in the coming months. We've already had a sneak preview of the 'livearea' screen for PS1 games when the Buzz Lightyear PS1 game was briefly, accidentally made available for download to Vita last week (though the game itself didn't work).
Final Fantasy VII and Theme Hospital are PSOne games and currently work on PSP and PS3.

For starters no PS2 download games are PSP/PSPGo and Vita compatible Vita support maybe added later. PSP/PSPGo support very much doubt it for PS2 games only one thumb stick.
As for Final Fantasy 7 i believe it was a PSone release so PS3 and PSP/PSPGo support definitely Vita support not sure. Best thing to do is carefully read all product information via the Vita playstation store before purchasing.
