Query regarding Payment

Dear Playstation Community,

I've found myself possibly making my first purchase on the Playstation Store and have an inquiry regarding payment.

Aquisition of a game called "White Knights Chronicles II Remastered" from Ebay which didn't include a "GeoNet License". This might be solved by the Seller soon...but if not, then I'll still find this information useful.

This might be down to being partially paranoid due to the security breaches on the PSN network over the last couple of years, but, I was wondering if it's at all possible, to keep my PSN account clean of any residual payment details after purchase (not sure if PSN Network saves my payment details)

I use a Debit Card, which operates more or less the same as a Credit Card...except, less support should it become compromised.

I've considered PSN Game Cards as an alternative.

Thank you for your time.

Re: Query regarding Payment

As far as I know, no card data was actually compromised. If you are worried use PSN Game Cards, they work out cheaper too as they are often discounted. There's no need to use your card details if you don't want to.

Re: Query regarding Payment

Ah ok.

Anywhere in particular I could purchase one at said, discounted price? Most online shops I've looked at, sell them slightly more expensive.

Re: Query regarding Payment

ShopTo always seem to have discounted PSN cards. Others only have them on offer occasionally until their current batch runs out.

Also bear in mind that your credit card data may be no more securely held by the online PSN card retailers than by Sony. In fact, following the breach at Sony, Sony's security might well be chunkier.

If you bite the bullet and use a card transaction directly on your Sony device, you should be able to delete the card details from the local machine through your account settings.

Re: Query regarding Payment

My friend informed me early this afternoon that I could delete my Billing Information within the Account Management.

The paranoia of entering payment details into PSN was due to overhearing someone saying that, you cannot delete your payment detail. Thankfully, you can.

The buying of the slightly bulky game card value at discount price is definitely something I'll think about, should I wish to make a hefty transaction in the future!

Thanks to everyone for replying to my query.

You can only delete it from the PS3.

Credit and debit cards have always come with risks.

All debit card transactions, NO MATTER were they take place are recorded and stored in computers.

(Legal law in UK is 4 years of records for every company).

Also ATMs, hole in the walls, or what ever you like to call them, are also targets for credit/ debit card fraud, With Altered machines stealing your data.... You won't know its happened untill to late as the data will not be used for months after it been stolen.

Shopto, amazon, play.com all top site have all had there User data base breached at one point. The card data is stored with encyption so takes ages to decode.

Also chip & pin machines have been altered to record your pin and communication with bank details.

This is just some of the things Mr crook has done to counter the lack of cash being used and have been in the press enough.

Re: Query regarding Payment

I normally use PayPal with ShopTo but that means you cannot get the instant PSN cards .You have to have card history with ShopTo before they allow purchase on some items.
