Resident Evil 4 & RE Code Veronica X HD Bundle - MISLEADING ADVERTISING

I'm a fan of Resident Evil (for over 14 years). I like Resident Evil 4 so much that I've made my 3rd purchase (first GameCube, second Wii, now PS3) and Code Veronica my second purchase (first on Dreamcast, now on PS3) from the PlayStation Store on June 4th 2012.

I took bought the RE4 RE Code Veronica bundle on special offer at £16.99.

I checked my downloads they were going smoothly. Cool, then I checked the PS Store again, I could downoad RE Code Veronica on the standalone purchase. But then I checked Resident Evil 4, says "Buy Now". Huh... weird, I thougt oh well, should be the same thing. On I went and carried on playing.

Now I know the game inside out, having completed it about 10 on the GameCube and 30 times on the Wii. I complete it and find that 'Mercenaries' and 'Assignment Ada' didn't unlock and got 'Separate Ways'.

I go back to the PS Store to check if I've missed something. Why can I download the RE Code Veronica on its own but no RE4? I could assume something is definitely wrong. The version of RE4 in the RE4 CV bundle is not the full game.

There is no indication or description highlighting these are different. The bundle says contains RE4 and Code Veronica, nothing about "This is the German release and does not contain - Mercenaries or Assignment Ada".

I checked my game save data on the XMB and saw "resident evil 4 - Saved Data for GER".

I'm very ***** off. I bought this game with the intention of playing Mercenaries in HD, and SEN support to upload scores.

There is a plethora of evidence everywhere that Resident Evil 4 contains these extras once you complete the main game.

I read around some forums and they said that some people have bought the same bundle and not got Mercenaries or Assignment Ada. Whereas people have been giving weird looks because they've got Mercenaries and Assignment Ada. However it seems that they've bought them standalone.

And no, you don't have to beat the game within a certain time to unlock them. Hell I did a speed on my second playthrough and finished it under 5 hours.

I am certain now the bundle is the German version.

This is misleading advertising - a violation of tranding standards lesligation.

I called PlayStation support (08447360595). I explained to the guy what the issue was. He wasn't familiar at all with the game though he clearly understood what I was saying.

I said:

"This is wrong. You've clearly violation trading standards for false/misleading advertising. If you're saying that the game inthe bundle is the same as that in the standalone purchase then why cannot I download the standalone copy of RE4 but I can for Code Veronica?!"

He advised me to contact Capcom to ensure the content is accurate. I said: "WHAT?! You think Capcom is at all bothered with the PlayStation Store? They can't help me. It's clearly PS Store's fault they're falsely advertising their items."

Sadly he said he or anyone in the team in the UK wasn't able to refund, grant my access to RE4 or any reimbursement to my account.

I asked who could help me, and he said that this'll have to looked into by head office. He said he'll raise this case and forward it to the PlayStation Network department, which will then be dealt with by head office.

He wasn't able to gie me any details as to where the head office is located, not even if it's the UK.

I spent 45 minutes on the phone repeating myself (now I've a sore throat) and stressing this is a fault on their end and they are responsible in reimbursing their customers.

See the below photos of my account and game status.

Re: Resident Evil 4 & RE Code Veronica X HD Bundle - MISLEADING ADVERTISING

Okay, got a missed call from Unknown caller today to my mobile whilst I was in office. I guess that was PlayStation Support. I got home and checked e-mails to find a message from PlayStation Support saying they tried to contact me.

I immediately called back at 4:55PM today and asked for an update. Basically a guy called Mark advised they do not know what is contained in the bundle and I should speak to Capcom to get details on what is included in the bundle.

After ending the call with PS support, I immediately rang Capcom and they supported my argument. They said that they do not have any management on what is published on the PS Store. The guy who took my call (Alan) asked where I am, I said England. He then said that I should get the exactly that version.

He then advised me that either my download is broken or that I am indeed not getting the same contents as the one from the single purchase, in both cases I should be refunded.

After ending the call with Capcom, I immediately rang PS support again and quoted my reference from Capcom. They took down the details and escalated it to head office, which do not open on weekends. I will need to wait a few working days for them to process my complaint.

I can see that one of my photos has been deleted from my previous post. Unfortunately, as I cannot edit my first post I've re-added them below.

are you sure you Ps3 is set to UK as the game will respond to the country your ps3 is set. Saves Capcom doing more than one version of the game for the subdude German market

Assiment Ada was not in the gamecube version and this a  direct port of that.

Ada's report is not Assiment Ada

Sony are stabbing their loyal family customers in the back - We have 3 PS3s and 3 PSPs all on the same IP address and all registered with Sony. Why can't we use them at the same time anymore?

Re: Resident Evil 4 & RE Code Veronica X HD Bundle - MISLEADING ADVERTISING

I live in the UK and my PSN account is in the UK - I don't understand German unfortunately.

I don't know, maybe they save money by putting the inferior German edition in the bundle, and then hope people won't notice the difference, hoping that they're not RE fanatics. Well they have something coming. I'm not going to let this slip by.

The GC version had only Mercenaries (if I remember correctly - haven't played on my GameCube for over 6 years), the Wii version had Mercenaries and Assignment Ada.

When did I say "Ada's Report" is 'Assignment Ada'? Ada's Report is basically an video archive for 'Separate Ways'.

Quote from Wikipedia:

On March 23, 2011, high definition remastered versions of both Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Resident Evil 4 were announced to be in development for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, as part of the Resident Evil: Revival Selection.[76] The ports are to feature all the bonus content from the previous releases, including Separate Ways. On July 23, 2011 Capcom announced at Comic-Con 2011 that Resident Evil 4 would be released on September 20, 2011[77] for the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Games on Demand.[78] In Japan, Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Code: Veronica were released on a single disc with the title Biohazard Revival Selection on September 8, 2011.[79] For North America and Europe, both titles will be only released as downloads on Xbox Live Games on Demand and PlayStation Network.

Well, nothing yet. They last said the case was forwarded to head office. If I don't hear anything next week I'll chase it up.

I'm beginning to regret not buying the RE5 + Revival Selection Blu-Ray copy when I was in Hong Kong...

Yes it does have mercs as I said people have confirmed that chainging the setting to UK in game and PS3 works.

The picture you posted said Ada's Report not Assiment Ada

Assiment Ada is not in this version as I said it is a port from the Original Gamecube code

Looks like Wiki could be wrong. As far as I know Assiment Ada is not in this version.

Eh?... never did I say that Assignment Ada is 'Ada's Report'. The picture shows that I DO NOT have Mercenaries or Assignment Ada!

How on earth does the picture imply me saying "Assignment Ada = Ada's Report"??

Anyway, Sony have accepted this is their fault and have refunded my money. I'll confirm that my funds have been refunded to my wallet when I get home today.

Re: Resident Evil 4 & RE Code Veronica X HD Bundle - MISLEADING ADVERTISING

Okay, I've checked my account and they have refunded it to my wallet. They still haven't changed anything on their PS Store. They should at least change the prices.

To be honest, this has made me sample the game on the PS3, and I don't think it's worth the purchase. Not even at £7 each.

This incident has made me aware of the different versions from different regions. I'll be sure to check next time if the game has varying content from different countries.

you said Assignment Ada was in the game I said it was not. The proof you posted on it being in the game was a picture of Ada's report. Then you posted Wiki which I said was wrong I have told you how to get it working but you have missed that twice. It has worked for every one else

Re: Resident Evil 4 & RE Code Veronica X HD Bundle - MISLEADING ADVERTISING

Dude, you totally misunderstood and got confused half way.
Never did I say that 'Assignment Ada' was in the copy I downloaded. The photo I took is OF MY COPY OF RESIDENT EVIL 4 ON THE PS3 which implies I was missing Assignment Ada!
Then I posted the extract from Wikipedia reinforcing my statement that Assignment Ada should be included in the UK version I downloaded, however it seems that they have indeed slipped in the German edition of the game into the bundle.

No... I did not miss your suggestion to change my PS3 or in-game settings to UK, because it's already set to English UK. Do I look German to you, French, Hungarian or any European for that matter?

If you were talking about changing the PS3 settings to UK, I do not believe that changing your PS3 language setting will alter the game's behaviour. The game you download is linked to the country your PSN account was first created under.
You can't just change your PS3 language to Japanese and then you'd get all the Japanese demo downloads. You'd have to create a new account selecting the Japan region instead.

If you were talking about changing the settings in the game to English/UK -there are NO SETTINGS IN GAME for changing the LANGUAGE or REGION. Which again indicates my copy is the German version.

Anyway, look... the fact that they've refunded the bundle for me proves that they admit it is a fault on their end. If the fix was as simple as change my PS3 or in-game setting to English/UK (which is impossible because it's already set to English UK), then I'm sure PlayStation support or Capcom would've advised that, which they haven't.
