yes thats right,i said Underground, not undercover with all its 5 minute playability. for me, like 5 years ago getting need for speed underground platinum for ps2 was one of the best gaming purchases of my life, especially at the £20 platinum price. it was the first game that i ever played online (before COD 2-5 took over) and it was just great fun. once completed the simple 112 stage career mode, you'd take your car with your personally selected unique upgrades online to race against whoever. it was a great online community, easy to text chat in the game lobbies, and establish friendships, join clans and race against your rivals. it was easy to spend hours at a time online in the game, racing a chatting, and no game since has had the same mix of social and gaming elements. every NFS game since has been a big disappointment (two of which kept FREEZING at certain points) but still i've stayed loyal SO FAR to the series because of my love for NFS underground.
it has to be said that im not a big racing fan, but yet NFSU had the pulling power to have me playing for hours. more serious racers may prefer games like GRID and the F1 series or whatever (the fall of the NFS series is noticeable in how it doesnt have its own forum sub-section) but for me Need for Speed Underground was a great fun, easy to pick up and play racer with great online elements which for me made it easily the best.customising your cars appearance and performance was great (before it got too complicated later in the series) this is why i would LOVE it to be released on PSN (for about £7 i'd guess) so that the games online community can get together once more (ps2 server was shut down a few years back,leaving only pc gamers to survive off whatever german/russian server they could find still living).
so yeah, re-release NFSUnderground for PSN please sony/EA. who else would want this?
