PlayStation® Trophy Hoarders

My ps3 slim broke after two weeks and i backed up my saves to a memory stick befor I took the ps3 back to the store.

I now have a new slim but i am wondering, can i earn trophies on the backed up save data or do i have to start the game over in order to earn the tophies i have yet to get?? Thanks

trophies are not permanently stored on the hard drive, if you format the data on the ps3 those trophies will be gone, you cannot backup trophies using the backup utility either, the only way trophies will stay if you sync it online via your own profile otherwise they will be lost forever.
