Sorry I'm sure this has been posted before but I can't find it 

I've set up my son's PS Vita with his own PSN account but I want to change this to my own account. How do I do this - do I need a second memory card?

It depends. Do you want to still keep his account on there or do you just want to get rid of it and replace it with your own. If you want to keep his account you will need a memory card for each and go through the reset process every time you want to switch which can take 5-10 minutes to do. If you just want to have your account on there then just follow the instructions in the following video. http://uk.ign.com/videos/2012/01/04/how-to-switch-psn-accounts-on-playstation-vita I think you can use the same memory card but you may need to format it. I'm not sure about that part. If you're not bothered about losing the existing data then it should be fine.

Yeah saw that video - but he has a second memory card - I only have one. I've tried formatting the card and that doesn't make a difference? I only want my account on the Vita - happy to lose everything that's on there.

Maybe follow those instructions but choose to deactivate the system and format the card during the process. Then hopefully you'll be able to set it up as new from scratch with your own account.

if i have have my friend vita and dont know his account password how can i get rid of  it and put mine on it and i have already tried formatting the card but it does nothing

Well if it was your friends then you should just ask him or her.
