Hi, due to being let down by my local Game store on launch day I ended up purchasing a 4gig card, I want to buy a 16gig card and was wondering if there is any possible way of transferring game save data from the old card to the new card. Also, I assume once the new card is registered with my SEN account I can download my purchases (Wipeout 2048) to this new card from my download list?  Any advice appreciated

Use the Content Manager to back up your data to either your PC or PS3. Then put your new card in and use the Content Manager to restore your data.

The cards are never registered with your SEN account it is your PSN ID which is. So whichever device your PSN is set up on you can download Wipeout 2048 to that device.

Remember though that you can only have your PSN on two PS3s

when i try this it  gets to 15 - 25 % and then says it could not connect to the pc and to check if CMA is running (it is). what should i do?

Isn't this the same as just copying all contents from old memory card to ps3 then copy them back onto new memory card ?

I bought a 32gig card but re download everything myself, if i do these steps with my old card would having already downloaded everything interfere with the data transfer?

GorillaWarfare_1, just make a Backup in your PS3 or PC, change your memory card to the new one and make recovery of your backup.
