When I was trying to figure out what the problem was, I guessed that some of the old recorded location data had been corrupted so to say and that caused the problem. I had also guessed that as you add new location data, even if one didn't manage to upload them, they would eventually become invalidated by the new ones and, provided you're lucky enough as to have your new entries not corrupted, the problem would be solved.

I can confirm to some degree that today, after having updated my location data about 25-30 times, the problem has been resolved and I now have a functional Near. Well, I don't really know if it is functional, since some videos of japanese Near users I've seen report discoveries of games and countless game goods, while I've discovered NO games and have only received about 10 game goods from day one till now.

Good news this time guys, 9 days after registering on Skyhook I now have working Near and Maps! This seems the solution so get signing up if you haven't already!

After resolving my near issue it came back and after locating me, said I had old locations and gave "an error has occurred". Restored to avoid it.

I went to my parent's, they live in a bigger city and it worked! Now i'm back at home and same old same old

Stills working for me, but à lot of French people get the message "an error occured" after Skyhook registration, and reseting the Vita doesn't resolve the problem for them.

There are also many people located at the wrong place, hundred miles ago from their house.

Near worked in Warrington last night woop.

My near works at my girlfriends house in a town but not up at my house in a village (epicentre of boringness) does skyhook effect your internet at all? slow it down etc ... cos i want to register on it but am concerned if there are drawbacks

It's not a constantly-connected service.

All you are doing is adding your MAC to an address-lookup.

So your Vita says "I am connecting from MAC XX-XX-XX-XX-XX, where am I?"

Skyhook consults their MAC listing and reports "You are on High Street, in Warrington" or wherever that MAC has been registered.

The thing to remember is that if someone registers an incorrect MAC then that will cause confusion, as will registering a MAC in Land's End, then moving it to John O'Groats. Skyhook will report that you are still at Land's End, until you re-register at John O'Groats!

I'm constantly updating my location for days already but it still doesn't work. I mean, it's getting the location but giving my error afterwards. Plus, just recently I've lost all my Out-and-About history as well. It's getting terribly annoying.
