first you need your routers mac address, to find this goto start, run and type cmd and press enter, this will (for all you beginners) bring up a little black box. in that box type arp -a and then press enter
under the physical address you want to write down the top line ( it will be somthing like 07-5b-34-db-6y-t7 )
so far so good, nearly there.
next goto www.skyhookwireless.com/howitworks/submit/_ap.php
then enter the details there.
check your email, you should get one str8 away saying its all good and then near again.
BOOMSHAKKERLAKKER, SORTED!!!!!!

On Windows, go to Start and type cmd and hit Enter. XP and before is Start then Run then type cmd.
You should get the command window (white text on black).
In there, type in netsh wlan show networks mode=Bssid and hit Enter.
(You can copy this text but you won't be able to Ctrl+V to paste, instead right-click the top of the window (not on the black part), hover over Edit and then select Paste).
When this is done, you get a list of all the wireless access points your computer can see (with their names next to SSID 1, SSID 2, etc.) and the MACs are listed as "BSSID 1".
You can do this anywhere you can pick up a wireless point, whether you can connect to it or not.
Get the MAC and send to Skyhook. Job done!
Thread *is* over 40 pages strong, so perhaps you didn't see the many references... ![]()

Near is finally working on my device! I resubmitted the MAC address using the suggested software from Skyhook and all is working well.
Skyhook now have a dedicated page for Vita users but contains basically the same information.
Now, is there a thread to discuss what Near actually does, as it was a bit of a loss last night! There were a few folk around me but not sure what the point of it all was.

Which issue is this?
If it's the fact that my Vita can still not obtain data for my location then mine is not working either. And no, I am not registering my routers mac address on any website.
If this is really the only way you can fix this ridiculous method of obtaining the location then make a feature in the vita that does it all by itself, without having to go through a load of hassle.
To be honest, this should have been implemented when the vita was released.
