WOW... i just submitted my info to SkyHook wireless and Near started working straight away.. thanks for the help guys.

Hey, I have a WiFi Vita, and Near just will not work at all!

All my Vita and game firmwares are up to date but it just constantly tells me "Error retrieving location"

I've fiddled with the settings a thousand times and i'm getting nowhere! =/

Any help would be appreciated thanks!

I am also having the same issues as everyone else, i have the WiFi only Vita and have registered my information with Skyhook twice now and still getting the usual 'could not obtain data for your location' which is frustrating as i have been trying to use the application from day one without success and even sent the console to Sony as i thought this would be a hardware issue.

I hope that this can be sorted soon. Sony were able to get it to work when they had it but nothing i do works... :-(

I got a wifi Vita 8th June 2012, "near" shows people around me but says I live in a street in Atherstone when i live on the outskirts of Atherstone in Nuneaton, how do i find this skyhook thing, 

Also I have a sky broadband hub and if I go to the end of our street I can't get a connection to the network, Help Please!

Mine near or maps isn't working I've had it since launch day wifi model with up to date firmware and they have never worked . I registered on skyhooks cause my phone was saying I was in the street next to mine when I went on google maps on my phone while only using WiFi for my location.

so that is spot on now but my vita can't even get a location for me and I get the same error code as everyone else who's maps don't work.

I've done a rest on the vita still not working the even tried tethering it to my phone and that doesn't work, I've checked all the location and sharing boxes
I've tried every thing I've heard which might fix it with no luck is there any thing I've missed I'll be more than happy to try but Sony I think it'll be down to you to sort a fix out but I'm not holding my breath for that LOL

As far as your location is concerned that is to do with skyhook as there location technology is built in to the system, i contacted them by email, they asked for some info and a screenshot of my wifi and surrounding wifi points on INSSider (its a free program that shows wifi points your MAC code and other stuff) they contacted me to say thanks to the screenshot I sent they know the problem that places me in the next street and after the next system update it should have my location.

If I were you i'd send them a mail describing your problem and give them the info they ask for.

My issue is the exact same as yours!

Hopefully they get this sorted soon as i want to see what Near is actually like lol
