Psvita analog stick wobbly and little loose. Is this normal?

[ Edited ]

I don't know anone who has psvita and stores doesn't have demo units so i can't compare. I have played only week with my psvita and i don't remember if analog sticks have been like that from day 1 or not. Left analog stick is little loose and i'm not sure if this is issue with my unit or is it just how sticks were designed. Right analog has more tension than left one and that made me think if there's something wrong with left one. Its very wobbly. Is there any demo which needs very precise controls?

I notice the same problem with my right anolog stick. The left stick feels more "sturdier" than the right.

I have the same. Left stick is a lot more loose than the right stick. I have the vita for 2 weeks now, and it definitely was not that loose from the beginning. My GF played Rayman origins on the vita and i think she must have played it very hard, she got imprints of the buttons in her fingers...

this is really bugging me now as i feel i lost a level of control, especially playing wipeout.

i have seen videos that the sticks can easily be replaced but cannot find anywhere to buy them.

is this forum read by sony or is it just users helping users here?

if the sticks are that weak, Sony really has to act, they should be made to last a few years at least, not a few weeks.

what is the best course of action?

I play WipEout 2048 on mine and both sticks feel fine on mine. You can't replace them as they aren't a user serviceable component, so parts aren't being sold.

@mulder8472 This forum is moderated by Sony employees and they have some technical support, however it is community driven :smileyhappy: The sticks are fine as far as I'm aware but if you have a serious complaint then you should return it immediately or call sony and arrange a replacement on: 0844 736 0595

Re: Psvita analog stick wobbly and little loose. Is this normal?

i do like the sticks too and there is generally nothing wrong with them. its just that my left stick is already a bit worn and has a lot of play in the center compared to the right stick and its original state. I would just feel a lot better about this if i could buy replacement sticks from sony. the vita is very modular inside so that its easy and cheap to repair if something breaks. I would be able to replace the sticks by myself.

I don't want to send in my vita to sony just yet, I am haveing way too much fun with it. I just hope these sticks will be available somewhere soon and that this one was an exception and it won't deteriorate further.

Re: Psvita analog stick wobbly and little loose. Is this normal?

My right stick is sticking, when I tried out the Unit 13 demo the cross hair just drifts across the screen.
Meaning I have to hold it in place to get a steady aim.
Tried Uncharted and its even worse :smileysad:

Gutted, really don't want to send it away.

That's because those games use Gyroscopic aiming, move the vita around to aim :smileytongue:

:smileyhappy:

Does Unit 13 use the Gyroscopic aiming, kept trying to aim as you do in Uncharted and ending up just getting shot.

Re: Psvita analog stick wobbly and little loose. Is this normal?

I found few sites where people were complaining about left or right analog stick being slightly loose so i guess this is normal but if it isn't then those analog sticks are crappiest things i have seen because i have been extremely careful with my unit (i'm wearing frigging soft cloves). If those indeed are so fragile then it better be under warranty and it will be send back to sony to fix it every 2-3 weeks lol. If people keep sending it back all the time then devs must include big deadzone because of the analog sticks and thus we lose sensitivity of those which would make fps or other accuracy dependant games useless.

Is there any demo at psn which would be real test to see if analogs are working properly?
