I wish this thread had a bit more decorum, but the bottom line is this:
My iPad requires 2 amps -- 0.5 amps more than my Vita -- and yet it charges (slowly) over USB ports providing less than 1 Amp. And I don't have to turn it off.
My 3DS charges over everything via USB, on or off.
This is a design flaw. This is some manner in which the Vita is worse than other competing devices.
The point of a portable device is to be portable. The point of the Universal Serial Bus is to be universal. I shouldn't be required to shut this thing off on a 2 amp charger or to carry a custom, awkward charger in order to keep this thing alive. It's a flaw, and I hope Sony can find a way to rectify this mistake.
