Re: Base-raping

Lightbox should look into more intelligent point distribution based on BnB item built and location on the map. Players will be more inclined to "learn" if you appeal to their points gathering nature.

For example: Home base BnB multiplier x1, Middle of the Map BnB multiplier x2, Farthest point on the map away from your spawn BnB multiplier x3.

Then assign points value to valuable forward resources like Pod Beacons, Supply Bunkers, and Vehicle Generators.

The multiplier would vanish once a "smart player" (they'll just be going after the points, helping their team is just an added benefit) places the first of any of these items in any of these zones on the map. If the item is destroyed by the enemy team, then the next player who builds one of these items in the zone would get the points bonus. Repeat.

So the benefit here is players have a potential to earn more points by playing smart, and it greatly benefits the team by expanding territory and giving you more control of the map.

Right now in the beta most of the matches end with top players with a high KDR. Rewarding KDR players over team oriented players isn't encouraging team work by design. Make KDR useless. If this game is about teamwork, then award points for intelligent team focused actions.

If you need to get a kill streak going, go play Battlefield or Call of Duty.

Re: Base-ravaging

Look the starhawk creators gave pro flight warhawk players a huge advantage in starhawk i.e advanced flight and after listening to Dylan jobe on starhawk radio speaking about normal flight and how advanced flight is for more experienced players , only pro flight warhawk players like advanced flight , so all the warhawk players who used normal flight feel totally let down at pro flight users getting a huge advantage in starhawk , that is the reason why meck raping was going on or base raping , it's like their is no common sense being used at all by the starhawk creators .  By only giving pro flight warhawk players a bonus of advanced flight and leaving the normal flight as a pathetic joke, base rape will keep happening ,plus being able to build in a enemies home base just adds to it, COMMON SENSE IS LACKING IN THE STARHAWK TEAM OF CREATORS

But the base raping was being done by mechs.....flight type has no advantage here that im aware of??

Agree it does not have anything to do with the flight mechanics, the issue some people had was with the mechs jumping around in the base.. However I don't think the problem is the Mechs, I have seen many baserapes and there has not been any mechs in the sky or on the ground.

The problem you have is good\average players who have some idea of how the game should be played, and players that sit in there home base building walls and don't have any sort of idea, just 2-3 good players out of 8 can change the game completely.

Re: Base-ravaging

Guys it has every thing to do with it ,the flying mechanics are a pro flight pilot dream , dive bombing and building is easy to do on advanced flight you aim the air craft and don't have to worry about the  target moving because you adjust you're meck to it plus you don't have to stop the meck as its flying to build , I have played since 1.1 and base raping is all down to mecks dive bombing and as they get near to the ground they can build strait away with out even stopping the meck in flight and then continue dive bombing and building. It is very simple to work out with a bit off common sense of how to stop the meck raping and base raping combo , take the meck for instance I would stop them from being able to build when they are in hawk mode  and for base rape make it so you can not build in an enemy home base very simple to fix. You have to look at the ravaging problem as a whole not just go, oh stop the building in home base and that will fix it, when truly it is a combination of things that makes base rape happen.

Re: Base-ravaging

Ok even if they introduce Arcade flight (even though they are) how will this stop the base raping??

Its nothing to do with the Mechs flying over and being able to build wile dive bombing, what about the Razorback you can have 3 razorbacks enter the base from the start and build wile they continue to mow everyone down, you can also say that it could be the jetpacks as you could also have people load up and fly over and start building stuff.

If you take away the ability to build in the enemy base your taking away the whole dynamics of Build and battle, even if they took the build in the enemy base away you will still have base rapes regardless, the harsh fact is the skill level of players, you put players that have no clue into a game with people who know what there doing they will soon get pinned back and just be a number to that persons KDR..

Re: Base-ravaging

Look to think it nothing to do with mecks is just stupid , being able to build while flying which can only be done in advanced flight is a big advantage to say its not is just ignorant , you should not be able to build while flying, when the hawk transforms back to a meck they can build very fair, a hawk flying and building very unfair, plus stopping building in an enemy home base would help stop base raping , you guys need to look at the base rape problem as a whole and not start with "what if 3 razorback do it" the problem can be fixed , the lbi team has already said about the meck raping and the base rape. Taking away the build mode while a meck is transformed into a hawk flying is fair but you do get players who like to exploit dirty tactics so I can understand why they would want to keep a very unfair exploit

Re: Base-raping

I was jet packing around and someone was laser beaming me in the distance from my base!! I jet packed over. Walked right next to his beam building out of his sight. Built a supply bunker. Ran in got the launcher. Blew him up. Haha. Was epic

Your opinions are valid and I think you are right in part, but to put most of the blame for base raping on mechs is not right, they can be part of the problem as can the razorback also skill level has a big part in this to. The reason I say this is most of the baserapes I have seen have not had any mechs flying\walking about, this may not be the case for the games you have been in.

I am all for being able to build in the enemy's base it brings a whole new dimension to the game, people want to stop being base raped they need to move out instead of camping at the home base building walls and work as a team.

Even if you take away the ability to build in the enemy's home base you will always have spawn raping whether its a Mech, Razorback, JP or troops on foot.
