Compromise between pod beacons and prebuilt bases

I've been reading some of the posts here about bringing back bases in the middle of the maps like in warhawk. I can see why lbi would not want to as this kind of defeats the purpose of the b&b system plus I like the way that, from match to match, secondary bases can crop up anywhere.

This does, however, seem to result in people not leaving their main base ever and just building bigger and bigger defences.

I'd like to propose this idea:

Because rift energy is a mined resource why not have small areas on the map where more rift energy exists, that way when you put a pod beacon you get a larger rift gathering rate in that area. This would provide an incentive for building bases in other areas of the map. To further this the home base rift gathering rate could be reduced.

Also pod beacons could still be placed anywhere, it's just the rift gathering rate would be lower.

Any thoughts/suggestion on this?

Re: Compromise between pod beacons and prebuilt bases

I think this is a great compromise and one of the best ideas yet to solve this issue imo.

Re: Compromise between pod beacons and prebuilt bases

The problem I see with this is that there are already Rift Barrels around the map and the incentive seems to be to encourage players to build in these locations to get more rift energy (Acid Sea the prime example). In most cases this just isn't happening though and most games devolve into "fortify main base -> kill attackers -> further fortify main base" and repeat. There just isn't enough choke points on the map because of how the Build and Battle system is implemented with the maps and I don't know if there is any solution to this that doesn't require a decent amount of editing and fixing.

My opinion is that it's hard to tell a outpost on the spawn map, from, say, another ally player. That's the main issue.

The outpost icon on spawn map need to be made more clear to player's that you can spawn there.

New bigger symbol or something.

you can zoom i forget the button but you can zoom in to the map  and see the spawn location clearly just take sec to look around you dont have to bang x straight away and spawn look around see what going on that's what was good about warhawk you looked around picked your base to spawn to and back in to the action you went
