As a last resort I'll try the formatting eventually. But since I can't copy any media from my ps3, I don't know if I'll be able to backup. My ps3 works well enough for the moment, I'm just going to run it into the ground before I have to buy a new one. But while I can play, then it's ok.

Just FYI everybody, this is important, i mentioned this in the bug report but next time you guys have starhawk crash on you and it asks to run a corruption check, proceed with the check. Tonight, starhawk crashed on me yet again, so I shut down and powered up and was greeted with the corruption check message. This time I noticed you could skip it by pressing circle. Since I felt this check is what damaged my ps3 before, I skipped the check in spite. I then chose to play starhawk, except it went to a black screen and nothing loaded. The game itself corrupted. My ps3 crashed, nothing loaded, and I couldn't even turn the ps3 off from the front. It did the Beep, Beep, Beep and just would not turn off, so I had to shut it down from the switch on the back. I've had to delete starhawk again for the second time now and redownload it.

Just FYI to everyone out there, if you get a corruption message when you crash, run the corruption check, don't skip it

Just an update in case anyone cares, I've now had to fully format my hard drive. I played warhawk today and discovered that since the starhawk beta messed my ps3 up, it makes warhawk nearly unplayable now because the screen freezes every now and then for 3 seconds.

So now I cant delete any media on my ps3, I can't save any media on my ps3, I can't copy any media to anything, it's wrecking some of my games, my friends list won't load up properly, my controller doesn't connect when I turn my ps3 on and I have to wait 5 minutes for the ps3 to load up when I turn it on.

So I've decided to finally format my ps3. I've now lost all my photos (some were special to me), music and tons of my favourite videos. Cheers.

Formatting my ps3 does seem to have fixed all the faults though. I just thought I'd share this while I have a few hours to kill as my ps3 has to redownload and install everything off the psn store

I really appreciate being part of the closed beta, i loved the game and hope ive contributed enough in this forum. But I frickin hope that the public beta does not crash every single time I play it, because there are going to be more people playing the public beta, and if my experience happens to a lot of other people, then there are going to be a lot of ****ed off people. The amount of times and the severity of the starhawk crashes were completely unacceptable. I now have had to format my ps3 and spend a whole frickin evening redownloading everything. Yeah it's a beta eh eh eh, that's the only reason I understand why this has happened but I am fuming.

You may want to post this on the US forums since I don't think the developers check this forum and this is certainly unfortunate. There is also probably more people there so you can see if this has happened to any others and the developers can contact you if it has, hopefully witht regards to a fix (if possible) or any other errors that occured for the PS3 at the time.

I've posted this in the us forums now. You're right I don't think the developers check the European forums. The silence from them is deafening. And it's a crying shame because there are people here who have suggested fantastic ideas that I guess won't be seen if they don't look here. The upgradable buildings idea is utter genius but I'm sure won't be included, or even read. What's the point of this forum

The corruption check is not mandatory.

Hit "O" to skip it and just play.

Perhaps doing that too many times wore out you HDD?

Get a USB stick formatted in Fat32.

Transfer all data you wanna keep from the PS3 to it.

Reformat HDD, wiping everything off it.

Start over.

If you think this beta is hard on PS3's you should have tried the Uncharted 2 beta.

I have never heard PS3's get as loud as an xbox until I played Uncharted 2 beta.

I actually did skip the corruption check once and I'll never do it again because it not only fully corrupted starhawk, it totally crashed my ps3 when I chose to play starhawk, the screen stayed black and I couldn't even turn my ps3 off from the front. It did the 3 beeps and it still would not turn off. So I had to turn it off from the switch on the back of the machine. That is what I call a severe crash, and from my experience I'd suggest running the corruption check.

But eveyones experiences are different. I've just had the worst of everything i guess

And btw, that ^^^ all happened after it wrecked my ps3. That crash above wasn't the cause of it

This scares me. My system has froze at least 7 times today playing Starhawk. This did not happen in the private beta. Each time I had to turn the system off manually and then wait for files to be rebuilt. So far no error codes. Sony charges $190.29 to repair a system. I know. And you don't get the same system back. Think I'm going to stop playing until I see an update.
