Whenever I build an outpost, players around the map can see exactly what I've built as soon as they pull up the mini-map. I'de be fine with this if hawks didn't fly out of their way to come and tear it apart. So my suggestion is that we introduce another RTS element into the game, the fog of war, so that players have to "discover" buildings before they can see it on the mini-map. Hawks would have to fly over bases and troops would have to stroll or cruise passed them on the ground in order to reveal them. I think it's good that players take enjoyment out of destroying other players freshly built bases (I know I do), but it would seem a lot more reasonable if we earned the right to know exactly where bases and/or other buildings are located.
Thoughts?

I definitely think this would be a good game setup option.

Trying to reach consensus with myself first because this is neither bad or good.

But say, for instance, a team is encamped up on a hil or floating section like in Space then you can see most of the structures they've buit like sniper towers and walls. Would that only show up on the map if you flew over there? I do support the idea though as I too keep getting my outposts attacked by Hawks.

Thank you gentlemen (and ladies), I wasn't expecting much support. Though I'm still not 100% on it myself, there's bound to be some unforeseem issues which could affect the game. I wouldn't mind hearing some things that bother some people with this idea.
@thetreefrog
Yeah, maybe this is something for the advanced players as there would be another level of strategy. Then again, how many game options is too many? I'de probably either want this in the game or not in the game to be honest.

Have you come any closer to an agreement or disagreement?

If you can see buildings in the distance or on a platform then I think you should have to damage them to reveal them on the mini-map. You can fire rockets from quite a distance and the Kinectic rifle damages beam turrets so I think that's fair. If the buildings are causing trouble to your team, I'm sure your team would be out there trying to destroy them anyway, so it wouldn't remain invisible on the mini-map for too long.
@Hogezz
I too like the idea of additional strategy, however, if the spawn beacon were to remain visible to everyone at all times (as you suggested) then the same problem would remain. Enemy hawks would continue to rush spawn beacons as soon as they're planted. Having buildings that appear all the time and others that don't may overcomplicate things in an already rich game. Especially for new players.

The thing is that when you see enemy buildings and bases in your screen how does the spotting work because the distances can vary alot when people spot them. Some one suggested that shooting them would take care of the long distance spotting but there should be dedicated button for spotting but there isn't anything left (except L3 when not using sniper). But not all the buildings are damaged from bullets so wasting a rocket would be a bit counter productive.
Sure driving by or flying by or running at the bases would spot them when in certain range but I don't think it would be very helpful because you could just as well try to get rid of the base by yourself and help might not come to you because of the long distances which vary from game to game.
This would also cause a bit of a problem for not finding a certain buildings like the pod beacon because it might be too well hidden or in a place you could not normally see like in Acid sea at the back of the enemy base.
I don't think it would work really well and I don't remember how it was done in Savage and Empires mod.
