Are these the beam turrets? Its almost like they have blended the power of the missile turret with the rate of fire of the flak turret - I've only had 30 seconds in one but they seem pretty powerful against the hawks, its almost like the beam arcs and attaches to the hawk.

I'd love to keep this discussion on the flight if possible guys ![]()

Yes, you're right. It's hard to gauge just how much I've got the flying sussed when there's only 3 weapons to play with right now. We still haven't been able to play around with bombing runs or any other weapon-specific maneuovers.
The more I've thought about this tonight, the more I've realised what an absolute nightmare of a situation LBI are in. My arguments are valid and so are those of the new gamer who hasn't played Warhawk. They will promptly get very tired of the game with pro pilots dodging everything thrown at them (the inner devil in me would point a finger at them and cackle). We all saw this in the late life of Warhawk - newbies just got trashed in the air and chose to hide in tanks, they missed out on the best part of the game.
Still I think there must be a better medium than this. So I suggest we work it out until someone from LBI jumps in this thread and has a chat with us all. Here's my question to you:
Bearing in mind the need to make flight accessible, but equally with a long process of learning, what 1 change would you make to the way flying currently works in Starhawk?
Let's really get behind this one, we all love the game and want it to be awesome. OORAH.

i found the default mode way to slow, and the fact the right stick did nothing felt just odd. The advanced mode seemed similar to pro flight ( i used normal 95% of the time on warhawk), and i agree with a double tap boost, or a speed in between the two.

Hah thanks!
I'd take out the preset dodge maneuver stuff for pro flight and put in a similar mechanic to warhawk. I realise they've tried to make the game more friendly to those new to the franchise, however it doesn't make it fun. Piloting a hawk should feel crisp and fluid. At the moment it feels kind of sluggish and messy; reaching away from the thumbstick to press X whilst trying to steer just doesn't feel natural.
Those wanting to keep the preset maneuvers can use normal flight (hopefully without the backwards lockons this time
)

Aite I recently got the game and I'm loving it apart from flying
Flying in this game feels super slow. Normal flight is dead (No arguements, it is gone forever) which was a mistake. Advanced Mode feels odd as well. Advanced mode, in my opinion, should be a replica of pro flight in Warhawk. Let me dodge my own way (Remove presest moves for advanced). Get rid of the arrows telling me where my opponent is (No skill in that at all). Allow me to powerslide and still be able to boost out.
Right now planes feel useless to me. Luckily im a ground player ![]()

I won't hold my breath to wait and see if anyone from LBI comes to comment in this thread - never saw them over here during the warhawk days - well there was this one time.....

The flight system is too easy...

I kind of like how they downplayed flying a bit, cause remember that this is not supposed to be Warhawk II, it is supposed to be a game in it's own. I also enjoy the fact that you can build automated defenses at spawn (and remember, those are expensive, and really only "safe" in spawn), which kind of prevents an all out spawn rape, or at least give better tools to defend against it. I feel that these tools give a better balance between ground / air, which in all honesty was lacking in Warhawk. Do not make the hawk "the one vehicle to rule them all"...
That being said, flying, at least in normal mode was dead boring. The hawk felt slow, sluggish and unresponsive. The dodging was uninspired and droll. Have not tried advanced mode, yet. But for the love of god, do not implement normal flight as it was in Warhawk, at least try to balance the two modes out and give players a reason other than personal satisfaction to use advanced mode. I also feel it would be a mistake to make the flying and balance to similar to Warhawk, there should be some significant changes so that new players, not from the Warhawk scene, will not loose all their will to play at launch.

We need proflight (like in WH) back or something very similar.
It's a very slow, floaty kind of proflight at the moment and its not very nice or rewarding, really hope they listen to some of the pilot beasts here ![]()
still, i'm happy today, I managed to slash PokeR988 in da face and run him and joker over in me 4x4 (sorry Alberto, you know i love you, lol)
...Stay on target ![]()
