One last point, i've been very surprised on some of the players that have been invited to test.I know dozens of top quality, regular Warhawkers that have not been invited to test.To make Starhawk work correctly everybody needs to play as a team, the game would be far less dis-jointed with the warhawk community on board.Although i think a lot changes need to be made before this game will a success. Good luck with this one lightbox/sony, your gonna need it!!

Not every person who played WH could be given a place in the Beta to test it..

It does'nt matter how much they still play it or how good you or they think they are....

Now i'm not sure of the criteria that LBi/Sony used to choose the ppl they did for the Private Beta but you could'nt have all top ranking ex-WH players as IMO you would'nt get a ballanced view as a lot of the top rankers prefere to fly a hell of a lot so all they would want is a carbon copy of the WH.......

And we're seeing that in the forums it should be more like the Warhawk in this & that......

We keep being told this is a proper BETA & your views count & for that to work LBi have selected a wide range of players of all abilitys to test there game.....

One last point!!!!!

Its funny how many gamers are coming out of the wood work with very new profiles to comment on this game!!!!

If I was a cynical person i'd say they did'nt want to use there main profile to put down this game!!!!
Thats if I were cynical.....

Re: StarHawk Beta - General Discussion

I don't remember stating that i felt that every Warhawker, past or present should have been invited, but Surely it would make sense to include a mix of players that are interested in playing TPS type games! i've only stumbled across a few fellow warhawkers during the SH pri/pub beta, it makes little sense to me to have players that obviously don't have a clue how to play TPS games such as WH/SH.Having a 'mix' of abilities is fine, but include more experienced TPS along side players that are new to TPS and the game its self would become more apparent and the team play would evolve. Also, the warhawk community deserves rewarding for sticking by a four year old game,Warhawk was never a huge game in terms of sales and if it wasn't for the faithful hawkers,Sony wouldn't have funded DJ and his SH dream. I watched some of the youtube vids prior to the beta's,lightbox stated that they felt that the military sector was crowded and this was the reason for the move in to space, for me this was a mistake! Battlefield and Cod have been very successful because its a popular theme, gamers like a touch of reality.Upgrading Warhawks graphics and increasing the frame rate would have been epic for most hawkers, Sadly by the time Battlefield4 comes out it'll be to late for a Warhawk2, Battlefield3 has already ticked most of the boxes. BTW your right about some people using alt's on the beta, a bit of a joke! I've used my main account GI jimscot from the start.

Re: Starhawk Beta - General Discussion

I'm unfortunately a casual gamer through having a job and children leaving only a couple hours of down time in the eve.  So Warhawk was perfect for such gamers as there was somehow a balance in combat, sure I didn't stand a chance against the experts in Hawks but that trusty tank would always keep me safe for a few minutes.  So far this game seems just "busy" I'm seeing the strategies unfold and the need for team work but first you gotta find some people willing to work together and then hope that the other team doesn't work to well together because once your pinned the game just sucks.  The Hawks seem sluggish and surprisingly not that effective same with the Razor its easiest just to run people over the gun on the back doesn't do enough damage compared to all the turrets, laser beams and other busy fireworks coming from who knows where now that I've mastered the dash and knife technique my knife kill numbers are creeping up on the other weapons as its just that effective, I'm not sure that's right in a shooting game,  I hope some balance can be made there is a ton of potential for a great game but it might be border line "really frustrating game" I've come out of a lot of games with the feeling of accomplishing nothing, that didn't happen too often in Warhawk.

Re: Starhawk Beta - General Discussion

Good points.i don't know exactly what the changes were on the new update but, the A2A Combat and general flight control has improved drastically :] Its getting closer to Warhawk.Your right thou, still alot of imbalance between most of the weapons.Slowly turning into a good game.I still believe that theres a strong need for permanent home base buildings or a couple of build mech buildings that can not be destroyed, base rape for noobs will only result in players quiting early, go on DJ give the noobs somewhere to hide! lo

Re: Starhawk Beta - General Discussion

Ok as soon as I logged in I lost interest in this game. NO DAMN TUTORIAL!! What the *****! Nothing turns me off worse than no damn tutorial.. This is one killing feature to any game I play.. if no tutorial it gets deleted and never gets a chance! And this is one of those games!

Re: Starhawk Beta - General Discussion

It's fairly sel explanatory - shoot people, build things, drive/fly... Play the game for more than 2 minutes and you'll have figured out the basic controls.
I think you need to calm down with your expectations of them implementing a tutorial where there won't be much testing going on and play the game so they can find out problems with multiplayer - after all it is an online beta not a handholding excercise
this is the last time I'll abandon you

Re: Starhawk Beta - General Discussion

lol if you need a tutorial to learn a game like this, then i'd have a look at the DS handheld, lol seriously, when you interact with any vehicle or building they give you direction on screen, what else do you want? on a more possitive note the game feels more enjoyable at last! Players just need to get out of homebase more, get in a hawk and learn to compete A2A,when i started Warhawk i was pounded by top pilots for a long time, but you don't learn anything staying at homebase, you need to keep getting in hawk and it will become easier the more you practise. When i've played this beta on the GI serv with my clan m8's, the game is far better.when you have experienced warhawkers playing as a team on SH, Air Combat is very good, lots of pilots competing A2A,Also you get a sense of Air combat and ground combat combining to defend or attack the objective,as a result Starhawk comes alive! If your new to this type of game try to interact with team m8's as much as possible, you see someone needing help, jump in a jeep/Hawk and help rather than building a random wall section or a second snipe tower or weap store, lol Lightbox are making the changes, but with out good Teamplay Starhawk will fail! Learn to fly,its a beta who cares if you die at first?

Re: Starhawk Beta - General Discussion

Why did LBInt leave that middle "base"  thing out in Acid sea which was in the middle of the map. It can be seen in the video which was artist vs devs at 1:15. Right now I don't feel that the middle has anything to offer so that foundation for base would increase its usefulness and actually give a better reason to build something up there. Don't ya think so too?

Re: Starhawk Beta - General Discussion

I've really got into the game now, it just took a while to get used to everything. I especially love the music in the game; that countdown track gets me so psyched and it really encourages you to just go for it in the final moments.

Now teams are also working together a bit more, making use of the Pod Beacons and strengthening outposts rather than just building a s**tload of walls round the basecamp.
