Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 2:06PMToday's 1.1.5 update for the Starhawk Private BETA was deployed during the regular server maintenance at 2pm Central and contained the following changes:
Repair Tool:
Reviewing the Repair Tool data and usage has led us reduce the rate a player can damage an enemy structure *AND* the rate it can repair allied structures. The Repair Tool still needs to be an important piece of equipment on the battlefield and we're hopeful that these changes maintain it's usefulness while reducing some of the degenerate usage we were seeing.
Kinetic Rifle:
As players already know, continued firing of the Kinetic Rifle in full-auto will result in a reduction of the weapon's accuracy. When a player stops firing the Kinetic Rifle, the "spread" will then recover back to the base-line accuracy. It was this spread-recovery speed that we felt was a bit too slow. The 1.1.5 update includes a change to increase it's spread-recovery speed. We have also increased the damage modifier for Kinetic Rifle head-shots so players will see a larger contrast between body-shots and head-shots with the Kinetic Rifle.
And a friendly reminder that if you fire the Kinetic Rifle while crouching, you will receive a "Stable Firing Bonus" of +25% spread-recovery speed *AND* +25% slower loss of accuracy when firing full-auto for sustained periods of time.
Stats, SkillScore and Level Reset:
During today's maintenance we've also reset all player Stats, SkillScore and Level. As we've mentioned before we need to do this from time to time during the BETA. We know it's never a good feeling to have your level re-set but it's an important part of the Private BETA process, so thank you all for your patience and understanding!

I definitely approve of the Kinetic Rifle change and even with such a small reduction in the time it takes to recover your accuracy it is a much more capable weapon when burst fired. I'd go as far to say that it now has an almost perfect balance at medium range.
I'm yet to try the new patch update, haven't had a chance to.. However im glad they have made more changes to the rifle it needed a few tweaks, but the repair tool I thought was fine and did not really need changing, again seems like they have nurfed something because some people are complaining that they cant take a building out on there own.
The repair tool should be able to repair a building when 1 troop is trying to take it down, make people work together to destroy a building when someone is repairing, or simply kill the dude then take the building down...

Well, the repair tool (although I agree it didn't need such a drastic nerfing) is still a good weapon and is still effective at destroying enemy buildings (yet now it doesn't destroy them in two or three seconds) I imagine the reason for the nerf was so that a single player couldn't break into an enemy base and then destroy absolutely everything before anybody realised what was going on and so that the amount of damage a missile could do to a structure was more than the repair tool could heal in the same space of time, thus preventing indestructable structures but whether such a drastic change was needed to accomplish that I'm unsure. And, as you say, it probably wasn't even necessary to change the speed to the repair ass multiple team mates could still take it down or simply go to kill the repairer.

you make some very valid points and I do agree with what you have said regarding the destroying of buildings, and I can see why they would nerf that slightly, I will have to jump in game to see how effective it actually is now ![]()
I just don't want the game to suck because they have nurfed everything to cater for players that keep crying and need to have there hand held to do things because they keep getting killed by something, have seen it with the mechs, RPG and a few other things, next it will be the Jetpacks.
I can understand some things need to be nurfed because they are and where way to OP I.E the Shotgun and I think they have got the balance with this right after the range nerf, it can still be deadly in the right hands.
I hope we dont have Nurfhawk come release day ![]()

THANK YOU! Finally, crouching matters! This is what Warhawk did and it made shooting so satisfying.

Totally agree. I'll be fuming if they change the jet packs, they are not that expensive so there's no excuse why people can't get their own. Wasn't playing before they nerfed the mechs which is really disappointing because they both could do with a boost especially the mechs which are lame. You can achieve way more in five minutes in a jet pack then you can in a mech because for half of that time you are looking for health or the repair tool and the other half worrying where the umpteenth beam turret has been put up. Add in TANKS in the full game and mechs really need the TOW, cluster bomb and stealth to compete.
