Sorry but this update is terrible, nerf the hawk because noobs keep dying lol.
Maybe if they stopped building ridiculous mazes and base camping and actually got hawks up they could counter this so called "mech ravaging"
It wasnt that hard to deal with mechs, it was only if you were I'm the middle if nowhere. Now I see no point in flying, wheres the reward.

This will only promote slow gameplay and homebase camping.

I disagree, Hawks should usually be fighting hawks which would put them on even ground.

The main thing getting nerfed here is the Mechs because they often fight ground troops.

 

It was likely either this or taking away swarms from mechs.

I think this is the better way to go about it.

bitbydeath I see what your saying but what do you expect hawk pilots to do when there's no more enemy hawks up, fly around aimlessly.
Hell no! Im gonna attack with full force, suppress the enemy and help get that flag out.
Thats like a tanker rolling up to the enemy base, only to see no other tanks, get out and take em on foot.

My main point is that this is war, you cant balance everthing.

good hawk players will help in the air and on the ground. they'll help protect the flag carrier, destroy enemy pod beacons plus take out any troops in their way.
there has to be an advantage to being in a hawk just like there will be an advantage to being in a tank or a jet bike. the trade off in a mech is maneuvreability and speed so it should be more powerful than troops

i've found the mech changes in 1.08 to be great!
makes the game a lot more fair when you're on the losing team and trying to defend your crippled base.

hawks shouldn't be tanks!

1.0.9 is out. details below

 

Today's 1.0.9 update for the Starhawk Private BETA was deployed durring the server maintenance at 4pm Central and contained the following changes:

  • All vehicle construction times are reduced to 3 seconds.
  • Moved flag position to the centers of each base in the small Space map.
  • Fixed bug that prevented CTF games from properly triggering the "Flags Revealed" state.
  • Fixed ladder exploit in small Space map.
  • Fixed pre-game CTF exploit.

Starhawk Update 1.0.10 


  • Increased rocket launcher splash radius.
  • Reduced beam turret's damage against Hawks. 
  • Reduced range of the beam turret.
  • Reduced grenade damage against Hawks.
  • More fixes for the pre-game flag exploit.
