First off. I love the game and it has the best gameplay of any game I've ever played ( and I play alot ), but there are a few issues with weapons.
1. It's hard to select a weapon, I would suggest using a different system (see other peoples posts)
2. The Rifle is too weak. So weak infact that a good tactic to use is to zoom out then zoom back in again to make the crosshair smaller and get the lock on (this isn't realistic and shouldn't have to be used). I love the feel of the weapon, it's heavy like in KZ2/3 but the crosshair gets bigger too quickly and not much damage.
3. From what I know, there just aren't enough weapons. I can't imagine having less that 15 types of weapons on a game in this day and age. One thing about the beta is that every single game people fall into the same routine and there isn't as much choice and options as I'd think there would be. More weapons mean more styles of playing and better games. (Same applies for B&B but this isn't the appropriate thread)
4. Sniper scope is irritating. It's all bizmos and gizmos lol. I think what would be a really cool touch is to have a customisable sniper scope( or just a simpler one), maybe something you could bring out as dlc because we're so close to release date. But this would help each player get a personalised version of the game they want to play. For example, someone might want a wider scope with the blue tint, or someone might want to classic + in a o thing. But the one at the moment I don't really like. It shoots well though, and I like the BF style delay.

1. Rocket Launcher appears to be underpowered, i prefer the 1-hit kills that Warhawk had... kinda makes sense.
2. Sniper Rifle, i found the zoom on it but there only appeared to be the one zoom level, is it possible to have two or 3 zooms sizes?
3. Weapon Wheel - Would be cool if this displayed the name of the highlighted weapon in the middle much like how the Build wheel does.
4. I'd prefer a real knife as well but don't think you will offer that :-)
I agree with making rocket launcher a bit stronger against troops, it's really hard to judge!
Press R3 to cycle the zoom settings for the sniper. Imo the initial zoom goes too far in, meaning mid-range shots are really tricky.

Too underpowered and inaccurate. Shooting at someone is hard and slow to get a fix on them. But when you have them on your crosshairs, most of the shots seem to scatter and you only get a few hits. If it is too stay like this, then the damage needs to be increased a lot.
I wouldn't mind if instead you'd increase the accuracy in shoulder aim mode, so that the shots wouldn't scatter as much. Also, i find that the new shoulder aim mode slows down gunfight to a standstill which i wouldn't think to be the expected for a game that aims to be fast paced. If anything, stopping on the spot to fire at someone should make the shots much more accurate to compensate it. Also, run'n gun with the rifle proves to be highly ineffective and i think it shows why an auto-aim was adamant in Warhawk.
Now i know Starhawk doesn't need to be a copy but if there are things that worked on WH, they should be preserved. Of course i'm not saying that i'd wish the rifle to have such an accurate auto-aim as WH did, but i do feel that at least it should have an effect of sticking automatically to a large box on your target, meaning that it would be much more inaccurate but at least you could maintain a fix on the enemy while running. As it is, if you want to have him on your sights, you need to stop almost completely to aim while having the same inaccuracy.
Way, way, way overpowered and the range is too long.
I haven't got used to the prospect of using the shotgun, perhaps because in every shooter, it's my least favorite type of weapon or that i'm just not used to it in the "Hawk" universe, but it didn't cross my mind using it in the few rounds i played so far. But fast enough, my character was physically reminded that perhaps i should use it instead. If i get into a bunker, i select the rocket launcher. If not, i'm running around with the rifle. But the hard truth people will learn early on in this beta is that you either pack a shotgun or you're in for some pain on the ground.
My rifle (for reasons i explained above) won't kill them even if they're still a bit afar, as won't other weapons (i'll get to that). All a shotgunner has to do is sprint and shoot. It's also worrying that it's the only weapon on the ground with which you can appear to maintain fast movement. It's not too bad if you shoot it without shoulder aim and if you aim it, you stop for a split second, shoot and run. Countering it with the rifle is a nightmare, you either stop and hope he runs at you from very far away for you to be able to put enough bullets on him before he reaches one-shot kill distance (which is huge) or you run away with little chance to hit him, but with the sprint it's just a matter of time until he's in range.
I believe that the shotgun should be a 2-shot kill even at minimum range and perhaps a 3-shot kill at longer range. And even firing 2 shots with it is really fast.
Seems to be underpowered against troops. Sometimes i feel like i hit someone really close but they live. An almost direct hit should be instant kill and the splash damage should be increased. Also, while the effect of having to resort to a standstill isn't as bad as with the rifle, there's still a bit of that, especially when targetting Hawks to acquire a lock-on. And again, against a shotgunner, with a powerful weapon like the rocket, i'd hope that seeing them survive my shot only to sprint and shoot me in the face wouldn't be that easy.
Finally, there was one instance where it made me miss a shot. I already concluded that rockets are a great way (and one of the few) to deal with enemy buildings, so i was shooting at a bunker when an enemy Hawk flew in the back of the scenery. My rocket launcher's aim was automatically drawn to it at the same time i was firing at the bunker making me miss the shot. I don't know how to solve this but it could pose some problems. Especially in the Space level, where Hawks can fly at your own level on the horizon, you could be having a shootout with an enemy on the ground, prepare to shoot a rocket at him and have it careening off to nowhere just because some Hawk flew past at that time.
Please correct me if i'm wrong, but the damage seems too low. At least that's the feeling i got when i spotted a still enemy and presuming he'd die, i threw a grenade at his feet. It landed perfectly but i failed to react quickly after he amazingly survived and in that moment he turned to me, ran and knifed me.
I haven't been able to check, but they don't seem not to kill with one hit, which i think it's a mistake. I know for sure that they don't kill yourself in one hit, as i've seen in a video a guy destroying one on top of it and surviving. Also, they're incredibly easy to spot unless you're distracted. One thing that did distract me and ended up in my death by stepping on an enemy mine was actually how it looked like a pickup, but that's another thing altogether. Basically, i saw a bunch of weapons on the ground and the active mine kinda seemed like a pickup too. Maybe i was just too hasty to run to it, though, as i had just been shot and my screen was all blue. And that way, i couldn't also check if i'd survive or not with full health.
Nevertheless, on a road or on most other places, you can see their flashing light very noticeably. Also, i have reservations about their location, which i'll explain along another wepon/item.
My issue with this one is linked to the mines: its location. For those kind of defensive items, i would actually expect them to spawn on the main base, it would only make sense. Sure, there might be spawns on the middle of map for them, and i'm not really that knowledgeable of the maps yet but i noticed that if you want to have these defensively important items, you need to go get them and then get back to use them. It's just too hard to do that and if your main base gets into trouble and you're pressed against the ropes, there's no way you're going to get a repair tool to avoid your bunker being destroyed or mines to protect the flag. In fact, a few times i've spawned and noticed buildings crumbling due to attacks and i couldn't do anything to repair them because first i'd need to get out of the base, then get back and if i'm lucky, i can do repairs. Mines aren't being used for what they should be, i haven't seen any around the flags because people opt to use them straight away at the center of the map where they spawn or else they'd be going all the way out there and back and risk getting killed before they could use them.
Anyway, i feel that both the repair tool and mines should be items that you could get when spawning at your main base. I have no idea what's the cooldown timer but obviously mines should be longer so that people don't spam them, but honestly i think that WH got that perfectly tuned. The repair tool, on the other hand, should have a significantly lower cooldown timer.
Now, don't be mistaken... i'm not in any shooter a fan of sniping, you just won't see me doing that often, but due to issues i'll save for the B&B feedback section, i'll just say that i did try the sniper out and although it's definitely not my specialty, i agree that the initial zoom goes way further from what i'd feel appropriate. Also, it has these gizmos and stuff that make the sights cluttered. I'm really not saying anything about it being a 2-shot kill in many case now, though.
But i do have something else to say about it. I tried to shoot it at a Mech that was rampaging on our base and i swear i emptied something like 3 clips on it. While stomping around, the Mech wasn't all that hard to hit with it, i was just amazed that it didn't seem to affect him at all. I was hoping that it would more than a couple of shots but i'd think i would eventually destroy it, but not even managed a scratch. For a second there i thought it was my rubbish sniper skills showing but i was pretty sure i was hitting it.
My only issue with these is that it appeared that while on Mech mode, when i fired them, all 4 would be fired. I'd like to fire them one by one without a lock by releasing the L1 button. Eitherway, i already noticed there's on option to lock by holding the button instead of auto-lock, so 'ill change to that and see if it's different on Mech mode from shooting all 4 at once.
I like the way they attach to your Hawk, but i don't why one shouldn't kill you. If it takes more than one, then placing them will become an exercise of placing 2 together and hope to get luck the enemy goes past both.
Oh, and one last thing, but this one is not about a weapon that is on the beta, but one that should be in the final product: the air strike, either it's something like the binoculars or similar. With the B&B system, never such a weapon made as much sense as it does now for Starhawk. It could be used to target buildings, destroying most and damaging really bad the sturdiest ones while remaining deadly against troops.

Oh, totally forgot about the knife. I'm not going to say anything about it being selectable or the present R3 swipe, but i agree its range is huge right now. Like with the shotgun, you can try to shoot them but if they sprint at you, there's a big chance they'll just kill you instead.

I seem to run out of rifle bullets pretty quickly. It takes nearly a full clip to break the rift canisters and then for example when going for the flag after destroying turrets and killing enemies I find myself either at the enemies base without any ammo or running out as I get the flag.
Maybe we should be less reliant on ammo bunkers for ammo and have some weapons spawning over the map. The bunkers cost 4 rift points and normally there is only one or two built in a map with the rest being launch pads, walls and 50,000 turrets so weapons are not readily available and as a flag catcher I see myself without ammo always at the crucial points either just capturing the flag or halfway to the enemies base whereas then I have to wait around for my rift to fill up to build an ammo bunker for weapons or go all the way back to spawn where there is normally a bunker and start all over again.

* As a complete noob I find the D-Pad selection awkward, not just that's it's different to Warhawk, but really think it needs to be faster
* Not a fan of CoD-isms creeping into the game, think it would be better if the grenade just exploded on hitting a target & if it doesn't hit the target then it exploding after the relevant time
