Re: Starhawk Beta - Weapon Feedback

Hi everybody! I´ve been playing the beta like a crazy since it became public and here´s some things I´ve been thinking about the weapons.

Rocket launcher
I find it to perfect as it is now, I dont understand people who are complaining that it´s nerfed too much. Rockect laucher is the best weapon in my stats and I´ve made my most kills with it, mostly shooting down hawks, jets and razors. It is true that it cant keep up with the hawks speed, but I dont find it as a problem. If hawks are too easy to shoot down then nobody wouldn´t use them. The thing is that you have to make clever shots, which dont give enough time for the hawks to react. I still havent found even one hawk user who would have been able to avoid all my shots. Those who are complaining its underpowered and too slow, then think about it again, if it would be faster and more powerful then there would be mostly rocket spamming in every game. People already spam it alot hoping for easy kills and with increased speed and damage it would be even more worse. I seriously dont want such a promising looking game to end up being a rocket-spam-fest. The fact that you have to make a direct hit to kill with one shot makes it very balanced and not being able to shoot too fast reduces the spamming with it. Slow reloading time makes people place their shots more carefully. It also makes people to work more as team since enemy buildings are slower to destroy, so it´s better to have a another teammate to aid you. I say it again, rocket launcher is perfect as it is now.

Sniper rifle
I found it to be perfectly balanced until I tried to shoot without the zoom at close range. Very easy kills, since the bullets go straight where you aim them and clever players can put a small dot on the center of their television screen to get better reticle on it. Shooting without the zoom should make to bullets fire of randomly, making it impossible to make accurate shots.

Shotgun
Deadly at close range and more ineffective at medium, just like it should be. If you can keep your distance against shotgunners, they can be easily defeated, so its pretty balanced.

Kinetic Rifle
After you learn to control your fire, it feels pretty balanced. It could use a slightly more accuracy, but the damage is fine.

Knife
What can I say? I really hate it, the one and only thing what I hate in this game. There´s nothing more stupid than having a surgically mounted knife inside your arm that pops out of nowhere in a blink of an eye. I dont like that there are wannabe wolverines running around like headless chickens for easy kills (Yes that is what it looks like). Best option would be to make the knife a separate weapon just like everything else. That makes people to think more about using the knife or not and it could still be used for stealthy backstab kills. Second best option would be to make it one hit kill only from behind and two or three hits from the front.

Mines
Not really liking how they flash and beeb like saying "I´m here" It is true that they can still be very usable on the right spots where people actually run in them, but those spots are very limited and in time players will obviously became avare fo those certain places. So I suggest that keep the beeping, but remove the flashing.

Re: Starhawk Beta - Weapon Feedback

All the guns -- esspecially the shotgun, needs a depth reticle. Without it, it makes managing the effectiveness (snap aim & most accurate) of the weapon quite difficult for entry to mid level players to master in a manageable way. Also, a depth sensor seems easier to implement without completely dumbing the learning experience down too much for experienced players. By THAT is when the guns will become perfect, i think..................... Gernades need a vicinity and a shorter time at which they will go off with a target is near. The bouncing ping pong ball is fine, but without a regulator do these things become useless to both infantry and vehicles carrying troops in them such as the razorback, mech, etc.. Mastery is still possible but it's not impossible now for mid to low level gamers to get a handle on....................... The melee attack needs a mid air strike MINUS the lunge. Without it makes it difficult to harm anything above the chest area or in mid fall. It's equally difficult to keep the camera steady when all you wanna do is perform a simple strike. I found myself flying over a cliff due to the lunge of the knife. Had there been a mid air strike and one not supporting a lunge at that, I could have switched to the alternative........................ All weapons need to be versatile unless you are dealing with a tank or wall. There is no reason you should have to get said weapon before you can deal damage to said structure or vehicle. It only slows the game down..................... The welding torch needs to deal more damage to enemy vehicles.

I agree with everything except the mines.

At the moment, if you drop them around the enemy base you've got about a 70% chance of each of them getting a kill.

If you switch the light out they would be too powerful imo.

Re: Starhawk Beta - Weapon Feedback

The knife is getting a major overhaul soon so that will be changing.

Can see you point regarding the mines but I agree with tree frog

Everything else I think you were spot on about to be far

Re: Starhawk Beta - Weapon Feedback

I`m sure that a lot of people have written already... but please fix the ***** that you have a weapon like airmines/homing/swarm missles  with 0 ammo. if you have 0 ammo it has no sense that you can choose this weapon

Re: Starhawk Beta - Weapon Feedback

[Suggestion]

Assault Rifle - The bullet spread is ridiculous; it extends too fast. Allow at least to be able to fire accurate bursts, not just accurate single shots.

Sniper Rifle - It needs a small dot reticle for when you're not zoomed in.

Rocket Launcher - It needs more splash. It might be a good idea to increase the splash at the sacrifice of overall damage to make it seem more balanced.

I see no reason to give the Sniper Rifle a "small dot reticle"!!!!!! :No-no:

The only reason ppl want a dot reticle is to NO-SCOPE......

Lets keep it a weapon of longrange & not a one or two shot CQB weapon....

Re: Starhawk Beta - Weapon Feedback

I disagree, it's fairly easy to dogde a knife. That being the case, if you needed to select the knife from the wheel, missed knife attacts will be frustrating and leave you extremely vunerable.
